    Senior Metallurgist - Beneficiation & Dewatering

    • The successful candidate will be working as a technical expert in the area of process metallurgy, you will be required to work closely with our African Capital Sales team, to identify, evaluate, and develop new opportunities within operating Brownfield Process Plants.
    • The focus will be on Separation and Dewatering process areas, where you will undertake detailed site audits, sampling campaigns, and troubleshooting exercises. Data analysis, modelling and simulation, and the ability to justify new solutions to the client will be critical in this role.
    • In this position, you will report to the Head of Technology Management, Separation & Filtration, Africa
    • This position is mainly based in Centurion, Gauteng

    TEAM YOU’LL BELONG TO

    • The Technology Management team consists of experts who are dedicated to serving Metso’s African customers across our extensive proprietary portfolio of Minerals Processing technologies. You’ll be joining a team who are passionate about delivering industry leading, sustainable technology solutions to the African Mining Industry. 
    • We work closely with internal & external stakeholders, such as Metso’s Global Product Groups and Africa-Wide Partners.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Regularly conduct high level audits of Beneficiation and Dewatering plants at our customer sites, identifying bottle necks and inefficiencies
    • Identify opportunities to improve throughput, debottleneck, reduce energy consumption and reagent consumptions, and enhance final product quality
    • Propose and execute sampling campaigns and test work wherever required
    • Use advanced data analysis, modelling and simulation to propose and fully justify flowsheet improvements to Metso’s clients, with the goal of increasing Brownfield capital sales
    • Lead conceptual studies for Beneficiation and Dewatering Plant Brownfield Expansions
    • Work closely with Metso’s Technology Managers to prepare tailored solutions and specialized customer offerings
    • Whilst onsite, identify, and qualify other new opportunities for Metso’s equipment portfolio, including outright replacement of old equipment, contributing to Metso’s annual Spot Sales targets
    • Participate in international conferences, representing Metso Process Technologies
    • Build a strong network of both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring Metso continues to meet the on-site support expectations of our African clients
    • Travel throughout Africa - customer facing expectation, 50% of the time

    WHO YOU ARE

    • Matric (Grade 12)
    • You have a Metallurgical or relevant engineering degree, with previous exposure to minerals processing separation technologies
    • Several years’ experience working on-site in industrial operations, or direct customer facing technical roles
    • A growth mindset, curious to learn more and contribute to the success of the team whilst ensuring that our customers always come first
    • Ability to plan and lead critical metallurgical trials on laboratory, pilot and industrial scale
    • Excellent computer literacy, organizational, interpersonal, and reporting skills – willingness to support the development of technical, sales, commercial, and business development activities within Metso’s Separation technology team
    • Good presentation and facilitation skills – ability to represent Metso on an international stage
    • You are flexible in your approach to work, and have the ability to travel nationally, internationally and globally as required
    • Working in a truly global company, you can navigate various stakeholders with ease and collaborate across diverse cultures and environments
