Senior Piping Designer - 12-Month Fixed Term Contract
The Senior Piping Designer is responsible for creating the Piping 3D models and producing 2D drawings, and fabrication exchange deliverables, and consistent design data for reporting in accordance with Project requirements and Company standards. Our Senior Piping Designers work with design and engineering teams locally and around the globe to deliver complex small and large-scale engineering projects.
Key responsbilities:
Adhere to and promote the Hatch corporate safety and quality culture
Develop a thorough understanding of the project requirements as they relate to scope, execution strategy, cost and schedule with the Lead Piping Designer
Layout complex plant and piping systems using 3D modeling optimization and design tools
Review and understand the project packages scope and schedule you are responsible for
Prepare a preliminary piping layout and provide input to mechanical equipment and steel locations
Produce and/or check design deliverables including digital delivery files such as isometrics, PCF’s (Piping Component File), and 2D drawings
Perform clash detection of models and other disciplines models and coordinate actions and closeout
Place and or check pipe support design and placement including special pipe supports with piping stress analyst input
Develop and/or check piping standard details
Validate dimensions of piping components including inline items against vendor drawings and catalogs
Manage change during continuous design development including P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), layout and procurement
Ensure design integrity is maintained between the piping design and P&ID (Piping & Instrumentation Diagram) development
Develop, coordinate and/or check piping Material Take Offs (MTOs)
In conjunction with engineering staff, prepare design concepts for internal and client reviews
Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards and project procedures for all design activities
Support the application of piping systems to achieve the best project outcomes
Check piping design data in the design environment to ensure successful implementation of data-centric processes
Perform design for piping/mechanical plant models using project specifications/procedures and applying industry best practices
Use vendor drawings and information sheets to develop and check the model.
Assist in the preparation and development of project specific procedures, templates and checklists.
Identify and communicate improvement opportunities related to corporate systems, procedures, templates and checklists.
Review and approve piping technical deliverables
Facilitate piping design reviews both formal and informal
Ensure coordination with designers and engineers of other disciplines
Assist in the resolution of piping design issues during project lifecycle, including planning phase, design, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning
Provide input to proposals and man-hour estimates
Assist in preparation of list of design deliverables and time-based functions to facilitate the planning and control of the piping budget
Participate in the selection of piping design candidates
Train and mentor junior and intermediate designers and provide guidance on Hatch standards and quality requirements
Promote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of piping work.
