What are the main tasks and responsibilities?
- Drive design of the DSC Data Ecosystem, starting from user journeys and aspired user experience for data product owners / developers as well as data consumers such as data analysts and data scientists, across all interactions they have with the self-service Data Ecosystem
- Design, maintain, and continuously improve thought-through processes for all essential interactions of data users with the self-service platform (e.g. publishing and documenting data, updating data models, gaining access to data)
- Develop hands-on governance and infrastructure requirements for the self-service platform which connects data producers and consumers
- Coordinate with IT product owners (e.g. for data lake, data warehouse, data catalogue), DSC analytics leads globally and across regions, as well as business process owners and source system owners across functions (e.g. in form of running workshops, interviews, alignments) towards the continued evolution of the landscape of data products as well as the self-service platform underpinning the Data Ecosystem as a whole
- Manage change, communicate with and engage stakeholders broadly
What will you need to be successful?
- Abilities of a process owner (e.g. conceptualize, build & maintain thought-through processes in a green field / brown field environment, mastering substantial complexity)
- Abilities of a product owner (e.g. empathize with customers, design product experience, innovative thinking, maintain product roadmap, build buy in and momentum for its use)
- Ability for thinking big and connecting the dots as well as for working through complex details towards elegant solutions
- Ability to conceptualize innovative processes to optimize user experience and translate them into required artefacts for implementation (e.g. roles & responsibilities, requirements specs for IT)
- Ability to facilitate change, coordinating contributors across functions and regions
- Note: While a good technical understanding (e.g. of the data technology stack, of the way that data professionals such as data analysts, scientists, and engineers work) is helpful, this is not a technical role – a deeper technical understanding can be built up within the role as needed
