Senior Procurement Specialist - Packaging at Lactalis South Africa

Required Skills    

• University degree – ideally in Supply Chain Management, Business Science, Industrial Engineering or related
• CIPS would be advantageous
• 8 to 10 years’ experience within a FMCG environment of which 5 years within strategic Procurement management
• Technical experience with a focus on value and cost reduction initiatives is beneficial
• Demonstrated leading negotiation skills
• Demonstrated working knowledge of contract and SLA management
• Team orientation, with a strong sense of commitment to team members.
• A good understanding of Supply Chain and Procurement principles and standards
• Advanced computer knowledge skills – MS PowerPoint and MS Excel
• Knowledge of ERP system (especially material management module) is of advantage
• High degree of motivation, initiative, thinking ahead and driving results
• Strategic thinking, with strong problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills and highly professional presence

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Lead the Procurement Category Team
• Capability and capacity to share knowledge, skills and techniques to execute Procurement Team activities effectively and efficiently
• Ensures execution of Group Procurement policies
• Define Procurement category strategies according to internal needs and requirements in coherence with the structure and patterns of supply market
• Lead Procurement negotiation strategy adapted to the category strategy. Prepare and facilitate the negotiation process with suppliers.
• Select suppliers and improve their performance (reliability of supply, quality, services, costs, innovation)
• Drive savings initiatives and identify all costs levers related to an item/category in order to control, forecast and reduce them
• Lead periodic budget preparation, analysis and tracking of category supplier portfolio continuously.  Manage purchasing performance through defined KPIs.
• Lead implementation of global and local Procurement standards and that all processes follow the Procurement Policy.
• Work cross-functionally to support KPI and savings opportunities with other departments, i.e. R&D, Quality, etc.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and teamwork
• Lead projects for implementation of new Procurement tools or processes, e.g., Purchasing Performance Management, Inbound Logistics Management, Supplier Relationship Management, E-sourcing, etc.
• Provides operational Business support to Procurement Team and Line Manager
