Senior Professional Nurse: Emergency Unit at Anglo American

Job Description:

As a Senior Professional Primary Nurse your responsibilities will include:

• To plan and maintain quality nursing care in the unit.
• Delegation of work according to sub ordinates level of education
• Supervise all nursing activities taking place in the unit.
• Ensure client’s flow (triage) and monitor turning around time for both Dr’s and PN clients.
• Assist in managing area of concern in the unit (i.e., bottleneck area in the unit).
• Plan and control unit’s budget.
• Assist NSM with the planning of the Capex budget of the unit.
• Ensure and maintain good communication between management and the unit.
• Handle all administrative duties in unit.
• Conflict management and problem solving in unit.
• Monthly evaluation of all subordinates.
• Monthly unit meeting and in-service training (discuss policies with staff).
• Infection prevention and control management.
• Health and safety management system.
• Risk assessment coordinator for the hospital.
• Compile monthly Departmental statistics.
• To develop Standard Operation procedures in the unit.

This role is in the Safety, Health & Asset Reliability Department at a D1 Level reporting to the Chief Professional Nurse.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12
• Diploma or Degree in Nursing
• Post Graduate Qualification in Nursing Management would be advantageous
• Trauma Nursing Care Certificate
• Registered with South African Nursing Council
• Dispensing licence
• Driver’s Licence – Code B

Experience

• 3 to 5 years’ experience in a trauma unit
• knowledge of operational processes within scope of role
