Relevant Tertiary Qualification preferably in Engineering (B.Eng. / B.Sc. (Eng) / B Tech in Electrical Engineering)
Registered Pr Eng or registered Pr Eng Tech with ECSA
Valid Code B or EB driver’s licence
A minimum of 5 – 8 years post qualification relevant electrical protection experience
Experience in power system modelling techniques and relay setting calculations
Communication experience
A high degree of computer literacy
Key Performance Areas
Develops, implements and maintains a quality management system to monitor and verify the configuration of protection, automation and control schemes
Investigates the performance of protection, automation and control systems and conducts investigations into all medium and high voltage system events
Conducts the calculation and implementation of operational relay settings and ensures accurate power system fault level calculations for all high and medium voltage primary plant and equipment
Conducts simulation studies of embedded generation and determines their impact on fault levels within CCT’s medium and high voltage networks
Configures the protection, automation and control functions in relays and ensures the final design application meets the protection design philosophies for high and medium voltage primary networks
Provide software support to the Protection Performance Audit and Settings section
Provide mentorship and training programs to learner technicians, technicians, assistant professional officers and professional officers
