BSc degree in Electrical Engineering, or BTech degree in Electrical Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer or eligible for registration, or Registered Professional Engineering Technologist or eligible for registration
Minimum of five (5) years’ postgraduate and directly applicable or acceptable experience in an electricity distribution system environment with exposure to a wide range of technologies
Extensive knowledge of power system engineering and related disciplines especially load forecasting
Sound knowledge of safety legislation and practice
User knowledge of power system engineering and geographical information system software will be preferred
Code B driver's licence.
Key Performance Areas
Conduct research and investigations such as investigating load data for any network trends, network abnormalities, load shifts, plant out-of-service, change in normal open points, long-duration outages, or project work-in-progress and conducting a network
performance evaluation
Compile/conduct long-term load forecasting which includes collecting, collating, updating, assessing, evaluating, reviewing, and scrutinising load requirements for development proposals and disseminating transversal information of long-term development plans
Prepare a strategic long-term plan for extensions and replacement of equipment on the high and medium voltage system that falls within the utility’s supply area
Facilitate the development of long-term projects, systems, policies, and procedures and their implementation, working with other professionals from the same or related disciplines
Communicate with management, fellow professionals as well as internal and external stakeholders, disseminate information on the long-term objectives and current developments, problems, and constraints to address issues of common interest, and share information
Utilise specialised as well as mainstream computer software.
