    Senior Quantitative Analyst - Homechoice (Southern Suburbs (Cape))

    Description

    • Homechoice is a leading South African homeware retailer. For almost 40 years we’ve helped our customers create beautiful homes they love with an innovative range of quality products they can afford.
    • The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for providing the various forecasts and models used by Credit Risk to make strategic risk decisions within the collections area of retail business. This function includes the maintaining and running of the group provision models.

    What you will love doing in this role

    • Maintain and enhance forecast models, analyzing actuals vs. forecasts to provide variance insights.
    • Collaborate with external auditors and Finance on forecasting accuracy and reporting.
    • Manage the cash flow provision model and provide strategic insights.
    • Develop and implement predictive models within the collections area to optimize decision-making.
    • Maintain statistical models to quantify and simulate portfolio performance.
    • Analyze data systematically to drive strategic improvements.
    • Review and update risk strategies for early and late-stage collections portfolios.
    • Develop and implement risk frameworks and credit policies.
    • Provide strategic direction, define objectives, and lead a team of junior data scientists.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, offer coaching, and foster professional growth.
    • Promote a collaborative and innovative team culture.
    • Effectively engage with senior management and key stakeholders.
    • Prepare reports, presentations, and policy documents to support decision-making.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Drive automation and continuous process improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
    • Monitor budgets and control expenses within approved limits.
    • Break down complex problems, investigate components, and implement data-driven solutions.
    • Translate strategy into operational initiatives with measurable outcomes.

    Requirements

    What you’ll need to do this role

    • A numerate degree e.g., BCom, B Bus Sci, B Eng, BSc
    • A minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience
    • Advanced computer literacy skills with high proficiency in MS Excel & SQL, and/or SAS, WPS, R, Python, or similar statistical packages
    • Strong programming and automation skills
    • Understanding of financial statements, corporate finance, and the NCA.
    • Advanced computer literacy skills with a high proficiency in MS Excel
    • The ability to integrate and interpret numerical and statistical information
