Senior Registrar (Medical) (Critical Care) at Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness

REQUIREMENTS:

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as Medical Specialist in anaesthesia, cardiothoracic surgery, emergency medicine, internal medicine, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics or general surgery.
• Registration with HPCSA as Medical Specialist (Independent Practice) in relevant specialty
• Commuted overtime is compulsory.
• Training and experience in airway management, including intubation.
• Training and experience in use of point of care ultrasound
• Communication skills required for consultation, letter writing and report generation.

DUTIES:

• Fulltime clinical service provision within ALL units falling under Division of Critical Care.
• Patient care, teaching and training, and supervision of junior medical staff.
• Participation in management and resource allocation within Critical Care.
• Participation in clinical audit programmes
• Development and implementation of research pertinent to Critical Care.
• Research for fulfilment of the MPhil degree.
