Job Description:
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Month and year end processes and financial accounting of complex transactions including tax and royalty provisions.
• Completion of provisional tax calculations.
• Review of financial transactions prepared by junior team members to ensure IFRS compliance.
• Oversee the VAT, income tax and royalty return compilations including preparation of taxation schedules for purposes of the annual tax return submission.
• Assistance with statutory financial reporting of the AAP financial statements on a bi-annual basis
• Preparation and review of ad hoc month end tasks.
• Changing plans and schedules to minimize the effect of unexpected problems
• Standardise reporting and implement processes
• Qualifications:
• CA(SA) qualification
• Mining tax or related qualification

Experience

• At least eight years’ work experience with some time in mining or related environment
• Mining tax or related experience essential

Technical Knowledge:

• Taxation
• Strong knowledge of mining tax

Operations:

• Project management fundamentals
• New technologies and their impact on operational activities within scope of role
• Business improvement tools and techniques
• Financial acumen

Commercial:

• Business acumen and commercial drivers of site performance
• Basic financial metrics & budgeting tools

Management:

• Risk management techniques and critical controls
• Leadership tools for implementing a culture of purpose–led high performance and change

Compliance:

• Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory, regulatory and permitting requirements
