Role purpose:
Moving fraud detection from a generic rule-based (shotgun) approach to a targeted, individualized, or personalized fraud mitigation controls (snipper approach) using Machine Learning/Big data to complement our customer journeys i.e., doing everything possible to mitigate fraudulent activities on our customer base in GSM and non-GSM Domains.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Champion/drive big data/ML fraud initiatives to migrate to from reactive to proactive detection.
- Ensuring that the ML/Big Data models are implemented for real-time, automated detection of anomalous behavior in our Vodacom Ecosystem, including customers, agents, dealers, etc.
- Acting as primary liaison between stakeholders and teams.
- This includes Fraud Business and Technical Scrum Team to drive and deliver fraud initiatives and product optimizations end to end
- Collaborate with various scrum squads to design end-to-end fraud prevention journeys.
- Creating Adhoc reports to various bodies in Vodacom on fraud findings/projects/initiatives
- Managing and optimizing the product backlog incrementally in order to maximize the value of the product. This includes initiative idealization, supporting business benefit value, and prioritization
- 'Business Benefits Realization / Measuring the effect/actions of the fraud initiatives/interventions
- Yearly budget preparation and justification
- Interface with cyber, privacy, and risk governance teams to integrate their requirements into the product being delivered
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Must have technical/professional qualifications:
Matric (essential)
- 3-year Degree/Diploma in IT (Essential)
- IT Honours Advantageous
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience
- Intermediate / Advanced SQL (PLSQL) (Advantageous)
- Experience with system process and data structures e.g., Big data ecosystems
- Tactically astute, with a proven track record in the delivery of challenging business initiatives.
- Knowledge of POPIA, ISO 9001 and GDPR will be advantageous
- Certified SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (SAFe POPM) certifications would be advantageous
