    Senior Specialist: Organisation Design

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Senior Manager: Organisation Development (OD), the incumbent will act as a subject matter expert for the entire organisation development value chain, which include changing the organisation’s culture, modernising organisational functions, re-designing the organisation structure, and will require a combination of change management actions to execute an integrated organisation development function to support, the attainment of the AGSA’s strategic objectives and vision.     Organisation Design

    • Develop ,design and maintain the AGSA organisation structure, by understanding the business units’ operations and business priorities.
    • Collaborate with business leaders and human capital business partners in creating and maintaining optimal organisation design.
    • Conduct regular audits of the organization structure and recommend changes, and identify duplication/overlap of roles across in order to make the organisation structure lean and efficient.
    • Design new structures and jobs as well as the development of teams, business units, and overall organisation structure.
    • Standardise job titles and content as per the established guidelines, in order to ensure consistency and alignment with the rest of the AGSA.
    • Provide inputs in the design of a framework to govern the organisation structure creation and maintenance and facilitate compliance with the framework.
    • Diagnose potential organisational problems in terms of reporting lines, position titles, roles and structure and implement solutions.
    • Proactively manage, in cooperation with multiple stakeholders, the implementation of projects in job analysis and organisational design.
    • Lead review of job descriptions across the organisation and compare job contents in order to ensure consistency of grading for similar roles.
    • Develop and maintain job matrix/families of all jobs in the organisation.
    • Review and investigate job evaluation requests from line management on upgrading of roles and provide recommendations.
    • Continuously maintain the job descriptions database and accurately update all systems as per the latest changes.  
    • Facilitate the creation of new job descriptions and continuous improvement of existing job descriptions, to reflect standardised language for crosscutting job skill and complexity levels.
    • Develop and apply tools and frameworks to support improved client future-state organizational design and alignment.
    • Implement business process reengineering as part of the organisation design process.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Build and maintain positive and value-adding relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • In liaison with the human capital business partners, support the development and implementation of monitoring systems for business units’ organization design, engagement and culture plans and other initiatives.
    • Scan the environment to ensure a clear understanding of stakeholder needs.
    • Establish and maintain relations with recognised professional bodies within own professional sphere.

    Formal Education

    • This position requires a relevant Bachelors’ degree in HR management/commercial or other relevant field. Mimimum NQF 7

    Experience

    • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the execution of strategic and operational OD, specifically Org Design, with the ability to move between strategy and execution.
    • You will also need to demonstrate a strong understanding on how organisation effectiveness are enabled through effective design and deployment of staff resources.
    • The incumbent is required to have a minimum of 6 years’ experience (post qualification) in a specialist capacity in organization design.
    • Good knowledge of state-of-the-art organisation design, methodologies and tools.
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal  communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate with the senior management level is also needed.
