Qualifications:

• Diploma (Heavy Current) Electrical Engineering

Experience:

• Five (5) – Eight (8) years of relevant experience post qualification

Requirements:

• Code B driving licence 
• Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, AutoCAD, ArcGIS) 
• Protection and High Voltage experience  
• Proficiency in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape ·

Job purpose:

• Apply electrical theory and related knowledge to plan electrical infrastructure, Design of Electrical Protection schemes, SCADA systems, Electrical Construction, Electrical Maintenance on Load Control system, Power Quality, Alternative Energy systems and connections, Telemetry and Electrical Protection equipment, Administration, compiling Education material and Documentation of the Electricity Protection settings; Manage the electrical Geographical Information System and Computer Alded Designs and Drawings, and the acquisition, installation and maintenance of computers, software and related equipment ∙ Manages and coordinates the key performance and result indicators associated with project management and administration through the implementation of laid down policies and procedures; overseeing the execution and finalization of projects in accordance with deadlines and budgets; providing input into longer term project objective setting and planning sequences and directing and executing financial and administrative procedures and processes associated with projects  Coordinates the efforts of project team members and contractors/consultants to deliver projects according to strategic plans

Key Performance Areas:

• Manage the Electrical Protection System  
• Ensure proper maintenance of the Electrical Protection System  
• Conduct Education and Training Programs  
• Control the Electrical High Voltage System up to and including 66KV  
• Manage the SCADA and Demand side Management Systems  
• Manage the quality of supply of the High Voltage Network ∙
• Manage the telemetry and communication (Local Area Network, Wireless Radio, ADSL and GSM Network) for the Scada, DSM (Load Control System), Substation CCTV, Teamviewer (Remote Desktop Functions), Power Quality Meters and Substation Metering ∙
• Manage the Computer Aided Design, Geographical Information System and Computer related functions for the Electrical Department ∙
• Inspection of Electrical Installations ∙
• Manage the budget and administrative duties ∙
• Projects and Contract Management ∙
• Manage the metering installations and solar installations ∙
• Responsible to take part in the Municipality’s Performance Management and Development System
