To provide accurate and well-coordinated protection settings to minimize the effect of primary faults on the power system network and enhance quality and continuity of supply to customers.

Minimum Requirements

Qualification(s):

• BTech / B Degree / National Higher Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering at NQF 7 with 360 Credits

Experience:

• 4 years Technical Experience in Power Generation, Transmission, or Distribution
• Professional Registration Body: ECSA

Professional Registration:

• Registration with ECSA as Professional Technologist

• Proprietary software for power system simulation
• Quality of supply, supply interruptions, voltage depressions, harmonic and inter-harmonic distortions, unbalance, flicker, voltage regulator, frequency control
• Eskom organisational structure and customer requirements
• Information systems
• Fault Calculations
• Sound knowledge and understanding of all electrical plant systems, network design, and operation

Key Responsibilities:

• Timeous and quality provision of Transmission and sub-Transmission system protection settings
• Development of templates, policies, philosophies, and guidelines
• Technical support to National Control, Transmission grids, and other stakeholders on protection-related matters
• Training and development
