Site Manager - Mining (Kathu) at Tsebo Solution

• This Site Manager role is based within a mining environment in Kathu, responsible for delivering compliant, effective ad hoc security services through responsible risk management practices.
• The succesful candidate must be local and reside in the following areas: Kathu, Postmasburg and Kuruman.

Duties & Responsibilities    
Key Performance Areas (KPIs) & Responsibilities

Financial & Contract Performance

• Manage direct labour costs, wages, rosters, leave, and headcount stability
• Control site overheads, contract contribution, margins, and cost ratios
• Ensure accurate monthly payroll, invoicing, income statement verification, and sign-off
• Identify upselling, growth, and price escalation opportunities within the contract

People Management & Supervision

• Lead and manage a large, multi-disciplinary security workforce
• Ensure effective rostering, PRP/biometric enrolment, attendance, and overtime control
• Conduct disciplinary processes, performance management, pay query investigations, and coaching
• Implement training, succession planning, and compliance with PSIRA, firearms, and mining requirements

Security Operations & Risk Management

• Plan and coordinate daily security operations in line with site risk profiles
• Oversee vehicle, perimeter, access/egress, and mining security patrols
• Manage incident response, investigations, house checking, and corrective actions
• Maintain incident logs, investigation records, and CIIMS reporting
• Coordinate and monitor CCTV, access control systems, fencing, gates, and alarms
• Ensure 100% compliance with PSIRA standards, mining security protocols, and client specifications

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Maintain strong client relationships through daily engagement and formal monthly meetings
• Review and resolve security incidents, breaches, and client queries timeously
• Conduct audits, inspections, risk assessments, and SLA compliance reviews
• Liaise with SAPS, community forums, and external service providers

Health, Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Enforce Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), OHS Act, and mining regulations
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
• Ensure clean criminal records, valid licensing, firearms competency, and medical fitness for all security staff
• Promote a safe, disciplined, and compliant site culture

Business Development

• Identify new and expanded security service opportunities within the mining operation and surrounding areas
• Support contract growth and retention through proactive risk and service improvement

Minimum Requirements

• 5-10 Years Mining Security operations experience and proficiency in security protocols, incident investigation, and emergency response
• South African mining laws, including the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act), and related security regulations.
• Ability to manage security operations, including rosters, budgets, and compliance with standard operating procedures.?
• Mining Safety and Security Risk reports - high Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Clean criminal record - to apply tactical, response and fire arm competency security services  
• Health and Safety

• Vehicle and mining security patrols 
• Supervision and Incident response managment with house checking
• Risk control systems
• Site incident record and investigation Log current and complete
• Security guards have relevant ad up to date licensing
• Plan and coordinate security operations for specific events
• Review reports on incidents and breaches

Skills and Competencies    

• Excellent knowledge of mining security protocols and procedures
• Computer Literate
• Report writing
• Outstanding organizational and leadership skills 
• Ability to manage a team
• Experience using relevant technology and equipment (e.g. CCTV)
• Proven experience as a contract/security manager
• Drivers license
• Experience in managing outsourced security contracts and conducting risk assessments is highly valued

Qualifications    

• Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) is mandatory.
• National Diploma in Security Management, Risk Management, or a related field will be beneficial.
• PSIRA Grade A Certification is compulsory for all security managers.
• Firearm Competency for business purposes, including handguns and shotguns, is essential.
• Valid Driver’s License (Code B or higher) with own reliable transport is required.
