Small Plant Operator at eThekwini Municipality

Special Conditions:

• Hours of work, 40 hours, 5 day week.
• Protective Clothing, As per PPE.

Job Purpose:

• To cut/trim vegetation in the proximity of HV lines and HV substations that pose a threat to the operation of the HV equipment.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Remove vegetation such as vines growing onto fencing surrounding high voltage underpass enclosures.
• Erect road signs and redirect traffic under supervision.
• Undertake excavation work and operate hand held tools relating to such duties.
• Ensure correct and safe operation of specialised equipment.
• Cutting of trees, vegetation and grass interfering with high voltage equipment which could necessitate the climbing of ladders and trees.

Essential Requirements:

• Appropriate level of primary education
• Certificate of competency in the operation of small plant and equipment or obtainable within 6 months of appointment.
• 6 Months relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements:

• An appropriate level of secondary education.
• 1 Year relevant experience
