Purpose of Job

• Provide technical support to managers and engineers with respect to practical application of technical solutions. Manage resource allocation and indicate timeously resourcing needs towards the execution of projects and support to operations.
• Responsible for developing, installing, managing and/or maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes. This will guide colleagues in the instrumentation & control and production fraternities to ensure plant availability and efficient operation.

Key Accountabilities

• Broad base of instrumentation and control engineering knowledge.
• Ensure proper maintenance and improvement of all DCS applications in area of responsibility and by giving input to the maintenance, improvement strategies and philosophies. Manage interface with all stakeholders in control environment.
• Ensure correct level of representation of control engineering on projects.
• Ensure correct support with implementation of new control hardware and software.
• Ensure correct governance and support on all projects past gate 4-6 (HAZOP, LOPA and SIL reviews, MFD reviews, FAT & SAT, Loop checks, commissioning support) Experience on the following Technologies
• TDC2000
• TDC3000
• Experion Knowledge on: Profibus Ethernet based networks ESD’s Optimizes and control resources cost effectively within budget. Adhere to all safety standards & procedures. Application, adherence and compliance of policies, practices, standards, procedures, guidelines and methods. Regularly review compliance and follow-up against objectives and standards.
• Ensure performance and quality of internal capabilities. Adhere to quality control of delivered services. Identified and rectify deviations to guidelines and standards. Adhere to all safety standards and procedures. Identify continuous improvement opportunities in own work area. Demonstrate the desired behaviours in agreement with the Sasol Values. Formal Education

• BTech or Advanced Diploma (Electronic / Control / Process Instrumentation)
• Professional Engineering Technologist (ECSA) – strong wish
