Minimum Requirements:

• LLB / BCom Law
• Drivers licence
• 4 years working experience in compliance environment

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement internal processes to manage the roads and transport departmental legislative compliance
• Identify relevant legislation, regulations and by-laws applicable to the department and ensure clear framework for compliance
• Maintain a legislative register and update it with new or amended laws
• Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and enforce corrective measures
• Draft and analyse service level agreements and contracts to ensure comprehensive legal support to the department
• Monitor the implementation of all contracts and advise on action to be taken on the case of breach or non-compliant
• Ensure efficient management and control of resources and budget in accordance with relevant regulations and legislation
• Engage Risk and Legal department to determine the updated organisational legislation and ensure adherence to delegation of authority as approved by the city
• Advice and guide the Roads and Transport Department of the City on compliance with the National Land Transport Act, in particular negotiated agreement with relevant Transport Stakeholders for Bus Rapid Transport.
• Ensure efficient adherence and compliance with contract management prescripts as stipulated on the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), Municipal Systems Act and other relevant contract management policies and legislation
