    Social Media Community Manager

    About you

A mid-weight candidate who has exciting experience in creating digital and social media marketing content. You must be an ambitious digital native, comfortable working on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter – and curious about emerging platforms, too. You must be active on your own social accounts.

You enjoy travel, culture and wildlife, and you want access to amazing content in those areas. You’re not happy doing what’s always been done – you want to research, invent and test ideas in collaboration with other talented people.

    What you will do

    • Be one of our internal experts on organic social media platforms, developments and trends
    • Bring the latest insights and best practices to GVI to help grow our social reach and engagement
    • Support the Social Media Strategist with the development of overarching social media strategies, specifically providing excellent input around community engagement and growth
    • Build, grow and manage online communities for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter
    • Stay on top of emerging and as yet unutilised social platforms and be ready to help develop a presence quickly when it’s right
    • Actively identify groups, pages, conversations, news and events that provide opportunities to engage GVI’s audiences – and be prepared to create that engagement quickly
    • Identify trending hashtags and influencers relevant to GVI and its brands, proactively driving dialogue with influencers and consumers within the community
    • Be immersed in our audience demographic – Gen Zers predominantly in the UK and US – so you speak their language authentically and create content that resonates with them
    • Be passionate about all things GVI and content our audience is sharing, liking, recommending and talking about
    • Research trends and tools in the social marketing space – eg proposing new tools for scheduling, social listening and monitoring, and customer service
    • Help develop GVI’s social listening strategy and own the implementation of it
    • Be proactive with suggesting and testing new content ideas and formats to help drive rapid growth and engagement
    • Uphold GVI’s ethics and values in all content you publish
    • Support, train and advise GVI staff on community management best practices when required
    • Support the Social Media Strategist in the creation of a strategy for employee advocacy
    • Engage with GVI staff to generate engagement
    • Identify and track relevant community data metrics – eg develop monthly reporting and outline key insights (monitoring conversation volume, reach, sentiment etc)
    • Improve and document GVI’s standards for community management and escalation processes
    • Collaborate with our support team to facilitate excellent customer service
    • Manage GVI Live content by coordinating a large distributed group of staff in GVI’s global bases, specifically:
    • providing training and support to staff as needed
    • overseeing and maintaining GVI Live documentation
    • facilitating and tracking the rollout of GVI live content across platforms
    • Proactively identify new ways to engage with potential partners in GVI’s social marketing space – eg suggesting potential PR partnerships on social media
    • Support the Social Media Content Producer with brainstorming and developing content when required
    • Support the Digital Marketing Intern with scheduling tasks when required
    • Work closely with the Social Media Strategist, Social Media Content Producer and Digital Marketing Intern to ensure GVI’s social presence is supporting our marketing goals

    What you will need

    Requirements:

    • Extensive knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube as well as a familiarity with other current digital platforms (eg Discord)
    • Excellent attention to detail and understanding of how people interact with content on different social platforms
    • Excellent understanding of a Gen Z audience, specifically US/UK
    • Excellent instinct to spot potential for engagement – able to jump on trends and conversations quickly
    • Ability to write professional, engaging copy
    • Organised and efficient
    • An appreciation for the complex issues that surround working in a social enterprise – you must be able to join conversations around conservation, social justice and identity politics among others in ways that represent GVI’s ethics

    Skills and qualifications:

    • 3+ years’ experience working on social media campaigns with community management
    • Practical knowledge of how to manage social media channels especially with their unique characteristics
    • Extensive experience working on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube
    • An excellent portfolio of work
    • Degree or diploma in digital marketing, communication, advertising or similar
    • Experience using analytical/social listening tools for reporting and to gather insights
