Key Performance Areas

• Conduct assessments. identify the conditions of the learners and provide counselling. Recommend relevant and appropriate interventions. Provide referrals where necessary. Implement the recommended interventions and provide continuous support to individuals. groups. families and communities. Monitor the effectiveness and progress of interventions. Provide psychosocial support. Support child protection initiatives. Participate in multidisciplinary teams.

Prerequisites

• An NQF level 7 qualification in Social Work as recognized by SAQA. Valid and active Registration with the South African Council of Social Service Professions (SACSSP). Relevant experience as a Social Worker. Experience in working with learners with special educational needs is an added advantage.

Person Profile

• Study, interpret, apply and give information on legislation and policies. Perform all statutory functions and attend court proceedings. Produce and maintain records and reports. Liaise with relevant role players. Compile and implement the social work policy of the school. Knowledge of social welfare legislations. Counselling and case management skills. Crisis intervention skills. Communication and interpersonal skills.
