    Socio-Behavioural Scientist

    Job Description    

    We are inviting talented individuals, eager to grow their career to apply to join the CAPRISA Team, based in Durban.

    The main purpose of this position is to provide technical oversight and guidance to behavioural science projects and projects related to behavioural analysis, behavioural intervention design and monitoring.

    Applicants are advised that CAPRISA has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy and all appointees will need to be vaccinated at commencement of employment.

    Minimum Requirements    

    1. PhD in Behavioural Sciences, Health Sciences or related
    2. Strong background in Behavioural Sciences, Psychology, Social and Behaviour Change communication or similar
    3. Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and evaluating social and behavioural change projects
    4. Able to interpret scientific program policies and associated principles as well as organize and implement assigned programs
    5. In-depth knowledge and understanding of research methodology
    6. In-depth knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS and TB research
    7. Experience in staff management
    8. Advanced Computer Literacy and experience in working with MS Office packages

    3.  Ability to build interpersonal relationships to manage and support study staff and project implementation

    7.  Ability to work independently and enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary team

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    1.  Survey development, focus group and interview development, writing protocols, regulatory approvals and quantitative/qualitative  analysis 
    2.  Ensure all policies and procedures are followed during all phases of the study and processing of clinical data
    3.  Participate in preparation of funding applications as well as write up for independent funding linked to independent research focus
    4.  Participate and lead (where appropriate) protocol development, ethics applications and scientific reporting to funders
    5.  Prepare scientific papers/publications
    6.  Traveling between CAPRISA sites will be required
