    Software Development Engineer, AWS Threat Research Team, Anti-DDoS

    Job Summary

    DESCRIPTION

    The AWS Threat Research Team is responsible for publishing a rich source of AWS home-grown threat intelligence for AWS services and customers. We are looking for talented, creative and passionate Software Development Engineers to help us build, launch and grow the software at the core of the AWS Threat Research Team.

    There is a strong security focus to our team’s charter. Our software enables our security engineers to research threats in innovative ways, aggregate data from internal and external sources, and uses this information to deliver services that protect applications on AWS. AWS Managed Rules for AWS WAF is an example of how we convert our threat data into actionable security offerings for customers. Come work with our great team of engineers and be involved in building systems that leverage the scale AWS in the security domain.

    As a Part Of This Role, You Will

    • Learn how our products work today, and where we want to take them in the future
    • Design and implement new features from specification to final test and automation
    • Write a lot of high-quality code and mentor other engineers in the same team
    • Work with the team to help solve business problems
    • Work in an agile development environment, where the backlog gets prioritized frequently

    Basic Qualifications

    • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
    • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
    • 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent working experience
    • Demonstrable expertise in software engineering best practices and full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
    • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and influence both product strategy and outcomes in technical decision-making
    • Demonstrable experience with security domains such as hardware security, system security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography and cryptographic protocols, application security, network security
    • Demonstrable experience building and operating cloud or SaaS services, including working knowledge of AWS products and technologies.
    • Effective written and verbal communication
