Software Development Manager - Pinelands at Western Cape Blood Service

Main purpose of the role:

Reporting to the Head of IT, the successful candidate will lead the IT Business Solutions Team (business analysts, testers and developers) and will plan and supervise the development, maintenance and support of in-house applications and integration with third party solutions. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the delivery of the IT Business Solutions service
• People Management (e.g. recruitment, leave, skills development, performance plans and general staff management)
• Lead, guide and coach the development team
• Manage the Systems Development Life Cycle
• Maintain and enhance the development roadmap that supports the organisation’s strategy
• Participate in strategic and ICT planning and take responsibility for delivering on the strategic imperatives for Business Solutions
• Develop and manage budgets and manage and report on expenses VS budget
• Deliver services that meet the daily needs of the business within defined SLA’s
• Plan and manage projects (directly and via other resources)
• Ensure that the development team is up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques
• Provide consulting services to the business, team members and project teams to ensure optimal solutions that comply with WCBS solution principles and standards

Requirements

Minimum requirements and experience:

• National Diploma or Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science
• 7 years in a medium to large enterprise’s IT development environment with minimum 4 years demonstrable leadership experience.
• Microsoft Development Experience
• MS-SQL experience and/or ‘NoSQL’ experience would be advantageous
• Valid Code B drivers license without endorsements is essential
