Software Test Engineer- Vast Online (Re- advertised) at Kerridge Commercial Systems South Africa

Working as a Software Test Engineer within the QA function of KCS you will ensure the quality of the products by generating and executing product functionality tests and identifying and reporting product defects as part of a cross functional project team. You will be part of a dynamic, energetic and accommodating team.

You will work closely within a QA function consisting of Test Leads, Manual Test Analysts, Automation Testers, Release Engineers and Technical Authors. You will be responsible for both system testing and UAT testing of VAST Online - KCS’ point of sale software for single and multi-location tire dealers and auto service shops.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

• Develop Automated and Manual Tests.
• Participate in all aspects of QA product lifecycle: understand the product requirements, test cases creation, feature/regression/integration/end-to-end test execution.
• Ensure defects are being reported on and tracked.
• Working with developers to diagnose and rectify software problems.
• Understand product business requirements and review functional specifications, to detect and remove defects early in the product development lifecycle.
• Write test cases in line with a specification to test core functionality, identify and investigate ambiguities in test results and propose solutions.
• Execute test cases on specific areas of product functionality and check outcomes against expected results.
• Participate fully in Agile development processes including communicating and voicing ideas, questions, and concerns openly with the team.
• Participate fully in the relevant scrum events; planning and estimation, daily scrums, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Implement and use the departmental standard QA processes and tools.
• Work collaboratively with developers and other testers to ensure quality is built into our applications as new feature and technologies are introduced.
• Embrace continuous improvement as part of our Scrum process.

Essential Skills

• Experience testing web applications.
• Experience of software developments using Agile methodology, preferably Scrum.
• Experience of writing, maintaining and executing manual test cases
• Expertise across the entire test lifecycle
• Experience of integration testing.
• Knowledge of MS SQL Server.
• A desire to develop automation skills & learn new technologies.
• Strong communication skills.
• Good understanding of DevOps practices.

Desired Skills

• ISTQB qualified.
• Experience of Automated testing (C#, Selenium Webdriver, API or web application or mobile testing).
• Experience with Azure DevOps & JIRA.
• Experience working in the Automotive Sector.
