The facilities Coordinator supports the spa team by managing the physical environment with care, accountability, and attention to detail, enabling guests to fully connect with themselves and their surroundings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Guest Experience & Environment

• Oversee the daily operation and presentation of the thermal suite, ensuring spaces are serene, functional, and safe.
• Maintain the outdoor gardens, relaxation areas, and hydro facilities to reflect Steenberg Spa’s sense of peace and connection with nature.
• Regularly check that all facilities, from loungers to pools and pathways, meet cleanliness, comfort, and safety standards.
• Support spa therapists and reception team by ensuring facilities are guest-ready at all times.
• Escorting and planning of guests whereabouts during the stay with us

Drive Revenue:

• To enhance guest satisfaction and drive revenue by ensuring the spa facilities, including the thermal suite, outdoor gardens, and poolside areas, are maintained to the highest standard, while proactively promoting spa treatments and services.
• Actively engage with guests at the poolside and outdoor areas to recommend and upsell spa treatments, packages, and retail products, ensuring a seamless connection between relaxation spaces and the spa offering.
• Collaborate with therapists and the spa reception team to facilitate smooth bookings from poolside enquiries, maximising occupancy and revenue.
• Ensure promotional materials and menus are available and visible in poolside and garden areas, and that all staff are briefed on current specials or packages to support upselling.
• Operational Management
• Conduct daily walkthroughs of the thermal suite and outdoor spaces to identify and resolve any maintenance, safety, or cleanliness concerns.
• Liaise with the Maintenance and Housekeeping departments to address repairs, upkeep, and cleaning needs promptly.
• Monitor usage of facilities and proactively manage scheduling or access to prevent crowding and ensure guest comfort
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations for all facilities under care.

Collaboration & Accountability

• Work closely with the Spa Manager to align facilities standards with guest feedback and brand expectations.
• Take accountability for facility readiness, reporting issues proactively and following up until resolved.
• Embody professional excellence by setting high standards in how spaces are cared for and presented.
• Invite feedback from team members and management to improve operations and guest satisfaction.

Sustainability & Care

• Manage resources responsibly, ensuring energy and water usage in thermal suite areas are efficient and mindful.
• Support Steenberg Spa’s commitment to nature by ensuring gardens are nurtured in line with sustainable practices.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Minimum Education:              

• Grade 12

Additional Qualifications:      

• Somatology qualification / ITEC / SAAHA / CIDESCO

Minimum Work Experience:  

• 2-3 years’ experience in a Beauty Therapist capacity
