    Specialised Planning and Operational Officer (SWAT)

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 and qualified to serve as an operational member of a policing service (e.g. Law Enforcement, Metro Police, Traffic Services, SAPS)
    • 5 to 8 years relevant experience including supervisory experience in a tactical environment (SWAT)
    • Successfully completed the Special Task Force Training Program or City of Cape Town SWAT Training Program
    • Must be able to qualify for recognition of prior learning (RPL) to become a Metro Police Officer
    • Code B/ Code EB driver’s licence
    • Computer literacy: MS Office
    • No criminal record

    Key Performance Areas

    • Supervise and provide operational guidance to ensure coordinated operational plans are developed and implemented effectively, by engaging relevant stakeholders and offering practical advice and oversight.
    • Efficient management of resources to support SWAT in their operational activities.
    • Manages and controls outcomes associated with utilization, productivity and performance of personnel within the Performance and Service Coordination Unit.
    • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of the department’s Integrated Risk Management (IRM) processes, ensuring full alignment with the City’s IRM Policy, procedures and frameworks.
    • Facilitate structured responses to internal and external audits and support the Head of Department in maintaining a risk-aware culture.
    • Oversee the preparation of reports and ensure timely communication on progress, challenges and key developments related to departmental projects and initiatives.
    • Providing operational and tactical support to SWAT operations.
    • Manages training and skills development and the transfer of skills and knowledge
