Core Description
The IoT Engineer is responsible for IoT, BMS and MES engineering, building and plant automation or optimisation. The primary task of an IoT engineer is the creation and development of the devices, sensors and software that allows the device to connect seamlessly with other systems. Research, create, test and document IoT solutions with integrated systems and devices.
Operate closely with customers to determine requirements and resolve problems. Provide general technical consulting on systems to customers and field service engineers. Co-operate with sales and support personnel on customer requirements and needs.
Assist junior and new staff members in technical functions.

- Azure Cloud experience beneficial
- Microsoft SQL Database experience, T-SQL query writing

Qualifications
- NQF 6: 3 year Degree/ Diploma/ National Diploma in Engineering
Or
- Grade 12 with the relevant 7 years’ experience and the relevant certifications
Experience
- Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience in:
- An engineering/systems integrator/plant environment
- Software development/programming using:
- C#, Python, Node.js, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, PHP, Python, Swift, C++, and or specific languages like Arduino.
- SQL, ability to create / understand: Database design, Views, Stored Procedures, Functions, Types etc
The following experience will be an advantage:
- MES experience
- Experience using Azure IoT tools: Azure IoT Hub, IoT Central, Cosmos DB, Power BI
- Extended .NET development experience with other languages
Certifications / Professional Registration
Any certification in at least one of the following IoT/SCADA/PLC/HMI and associated automation systems will be an advantage
Special Requirements/ Employment Condition
Valid Drivers license
Candidate will be required to do 2 to 3 certifications per year
