Job Description:
Purpose of Role
This role is responsible for providing expert service and operation pertaining to the operation of at least 3 of the following types of specialised surface mobile equipment: Skid Steer Loaders, Forklift, Mobilifts, Truck Mounted Cranes, Mobile Cranes, Cherry Pickers, Articulated Vehicles – horse and trailer, Front-End Loaders, Diesel Bowsers, Water Tankers, Tractor Loader Backhoes (earthmoving machine), Road Graders, Tractor Loader Backhoes (earth moving machine) and Articulated Dump Trucks.
You will be responsible for:
- Planning and coordinating transport-related activities
- Liaising and communicating effectively with other Foreman and Supervisors
- Operation of various forms of TMM equipment listed above in ‘Purpose of Role’
- Monitoring and inspecting vehicles and surface mobile equipment
- Compiling inspection reports on vehicles and mobile equipment
- Providing feedback to Line Manager at the end of the shift
- Conducting Shift work and Standby duties
- Working overtime whenever required
- Accident management – ensuring reports and investigations are conducted
- Attending Safety Meetings
- Conducting daily pre-trip vehicle inspections and reports to supervisor.
- Conducting Pre-work assessment/job risk analysis for any out of the ordinary tasks (e.g., abnormal loads, heavy lifts)
Qualifications:
You must have:
- Completed Matric (Grade 12) or N3
- Valid code EC (previously 14) Driver’s License
- Valid Professional Drivers Permit (PrDP) with ability to operate goods (G), passenger (P) and dangerous goods (D) class of vehicles
- Valid training certificates relating to the driving/operation of surface mobile equipment listed in advertisement
Experience required
- Five years’ experience as Specialised Surface Mobile Equipment and/or Heavy Mobile Equipment operator
Knowledge and Skills
- Defensive driver training
- Advanced driver training
- Computer literate
- Good analytical and decision-making skills
- Good people skills.
- Sound psychomotor abilities
- Good knowledge on AFRS/GTS standards
