    Welding Training Officer -Kathu

    Job Description:
    As our Welding Training Officer, you will be responsible for the following:

    • Assisting in the design, development and maintenance training material, programmes and assessments in line with MQA/SAQA standards.
    • Preparing and contribute to the auditing processes and identity and implement actions to rectify deviations within area of responsibility.
    • Controlling and maintain the administration of training documents.
    • Coaching and guiding trainees

    Chemist

    Job Description:
    The purpose of the Chemist role is to provide analytical technical support to the Section Manager Iron Ore. 

    Key responsibilities: 

    • Support the Section Manager in maximising the value of chemistry services to Anglo American at all times providing health and safety is not compromised. (Indirect output, influence decision, service authority)
    • Responsible for effective and appropriate use of equipment and facilities in the section (XRF, Sulphur Analyser, TGA, Fusion Fluxers, Gas Pycnometers and BALANCES etc.)
    • Responsible for the selection and commissioning of new equipment in the section.
    • Responsible for the method development and Validation.
    • Monitor, identify, investigate and correct deviations such as accuracy, precision and bias of the analytical methods using statistical evaluation of the data.
    • Lead the Investigations of non-conformances in Iron Ore.
    • Plan and Manage equipment maintenance schedule.
    • Responsible for quality management and ensuring compliance to ISO 17025 standards.

    Qualifications:
    Essential: 

    • B.Sc (Hons) in Chemistry or equivalent qualification.

    Job Description:
    As Section Manager, your responsibilities will include to:

    Section Manager - Mining Integrated Operations Centre -Kathu

    Job Description:
    As our Section Manager MIOC, you will be responsible to optimise and improve mining processes through the optimal setup, development, maintenance and management of the Mining Integrated Operations Centre.  This will be achieved by:

    • Analyse and measure Mining processes to identify opportunities for improvements
    • Management and direction of Loading and hauling operations to achieve the budgeted plan and schedule compliance metrics
    • Utilization on Shovels and Trucks are in accordance to the target to ensure the achievement of hauling targets
    • Monitor Trucks load to full capacity when Hauling and the Loading section is informed when this is not achieved.
    • Address cycle times with Hauling to ensure shortest cycle times.
    • Report substandard road conditions to the responsible section to minimize equipment damages (haul trucks).
    • Maintain software of various Fleet Management Systems (FMS) including Dispatch, RockMa systems and equipment to ensure full functionality at all times.
    • Conduct root-cause analyses on faulty or defective systems, identify suitable solutions and implement to ensure effective problem solving.
    • Control spare inventory to ensure availability of spares which enables system functionality at all times.
    • Identify barriers to effective production performance and contribute to the design of efficient production processes by recommending solutions to ensure optimal and economical resource utilization.
    • Monitor, measure and analyze the quantity and quality of production levels to identify areas of improvement.
    • Projects are undertaken in the necessary fashion to ensure pre-work done, deadlines achievable, productivity targets can be reached

    • High level of computer literacy in MS Office. Additional working knowledge on Dispatch systems (Modular) and SAP is recommended.

    Experience:

    • 5 years relevant Mining operational experience in Dispatch or a Technical and Operational environment 
    • Production background in particular in truck optimisation and scheduling will be an advantage.

    Section Manager - Roads & Dewatering -Kathu

    Job Description:
    The Road and Dewatering Section Manager will be responsible to:

    • Ensure proper  planning of the operational activities around the pit are in accordance with the Work Instructions compiled by the SRK.
    • Conscientiously apply Codes of Practice as required by Fraser Alexander, Anglo American, the Department of Water Affairs and the DMRE at the slime disposal facilities.
    • Managing risks in the pit to ensure it does not pose a threat to people or the environment.
    • Manage global water recovery and water balance in accordance with the new standards.
    • Ensure involvement in Monthly Sishen Water Reticulation Meetings.
    • Apply Work procedures around the road construction and pit dewatering to minimise risks.

    • Monitor spending and allocation of expenses to ensure appropriate reporting and cash flow management.
    • Optimizing human resources in a way that maximum output is delivered by the section.

    Job Description:
    Purpose 

    • Manages, and audits payroll input for the accurate delivery of the ACSSA payrolls ensuring full statutory compliance, working in collaboration with the Reward and Global Mobility team, and managing the relationship between HR Services and Global Shared Services (GSS) Payroll team.

    Principal Mining Engineer: Operational Mine Planning

    Job Description:
    As our Principal Mining Engineer: Operational Mine Planning, you will ensure the quality of operational mine planning at Kumba through (1) process benchmarking and continuous improvement, (2) introducing and supporting the implementation of best-in-class systems and applications and (3) providing support to the Medium- and Short-Term mine planning departments at Sishen and Kolomela. Thus improving the mine planning processes and supporting the mine planning teams focusing on MOP, mine activity design (MAD), operational mine planning (12-Week plan) and mine-to-plan reconciliation. This position further provides supports any relevant mining projects by: 

    • Providing technical inputs into the development of the Business Plan, MOP, MAD, operational mine plans and the mine-to-plan reconciliation process.
    • Breaking down Group requirements on operational mine planning and mine-to-plan reconciliation to site level and communicate to on-site teams
    • Working with the technical teams on site and develop MOP, MAD and operational mine plans that aligns with the requirements set out in the Business Plan.  
    • Identifying, implementing and monitoring technical and planning improvements which includes the adoption of mine planning applications, technology and digitalization / Future Mine requirements to meet sustainability and ambition targets
    • Providing planning inputs in the MOP and 12-Week mine planning processes ensuring these mine plans Achieves the Business Plan requirements – both spatial and tonnes and are aligned with the short-term plans and also guide this plan to achieve the BP objectives
    • Reviewing the output of the MOP - identifying risks and opportunity and assisting the operations to address these
    • Providing mine planning inputs into the development of the Business Plan focusing on detailed MAD designs (Mine Activity Design) 
    • Reviewing and sign-off Mine Activity Designs (MAD), ensuring they are based on mining engineering principles and can be executed
    • Working with mine technical services teams to constantly align actuals with the Business Plan requirements.
    • Establishing effective communication and feedback processes with mine technical teams and key stakeholder groups to ensure people are informed and aware of business objectives, performance and direction in a timely and routine manner
    • Owning the mine-to-plan reconciliation process
    • Providing input into improving this process focusing on forward looking action that will improve the future operational mine plans 
    • Driving continuous improvement in the operational mine planning space and cross-functional interfaces required to deliver safe, sustainable, and efficient mining operations
    • Identifying benchmarks and best practices in mine planning between operations and within Group
    • Optimizing mine planning processes to ensure safe and efficient process to meet business expectations.
    • Lead the mine to plan compliance process focusing on:
    • Identifying opportunities to align with the Business Plan requirements and implement accordingly
    • Business unit reporting into Group
    • Providing thought leadership to all operational mine planning activities to ensure a realistic range of options are investigated, considered and effectively implemented, with recognition of effective discipline integration and value from synergies
    • Proactively identify mining-related challenges and opportunities by reviewing operational plans 
    • Defining challenges, opportunities and impact on the Business Plan.
    • Assisting on-site teams to implement improvement opportunities and mitigate risks
    • Embedding new mine planning applications and technologies into the mine planning space focusing on software once solution design is execution-ready
    • Supporting change management processes in implementation of new technologies
    • Monitoring and measuring benefit realization
    • Holding individuals and teams to account as appropriate

    This position is in the Mine Planning department on a band 5 level and reporting to the Manager Mining

    Qualifications:
    You will be required to have the following :

    • Bachelor of Mining Engineering, and preferably a post graduate Mining Engineering qualification
    • Legislatively required qualifications (e.g., MMCC) will be advantageous
    • Registration with ECSA as Professional Engineer will be advantageous
    • Internal or external Leadership courses
    • Driver’s License

    Experience:

    • Strong open pit mine planning experience.
    • Mining Engineering open-pit experience at Section Manager level – operational and technical.
    • Management experience at MTS Manger, Manager Mining level will be advantageous.
    • A positive track record of delivering quality mine planning and mining engineering outputs
    • A positive track record in the management of safety, health and environmental aspects.
    • An appreciation of legislation relating to the mining industry, as well as applicable procedures

    Job Description:
    To support the Head of AngloAmerican Operating Model Support in driving coordination of P101 and BI initiatives, ensuring the incorporation of the AngloAmerican Operating Model, by performing the integrated Programme Management Office (PMO) function.

    Performance & Delivery

    • Project Management Office
    • Design, implement and maintain Group BI PMO processes, tools & systems to enable consistent delivery of initiatives.
    • Managing AAOM Implementation Operating Master Schedule.
    • Managing AAOM Implementation stage gates documentation.
