​State Accountant: Bookkeeping at South African Department of Correctional Services

REQUIREMENTS :

• An appropriate three-year degree/diploma with Financial Accounting/Management Accounting as a major subject. 2-3 years’ relevant proven financial experience. Computer literate. Knowledge of BAS will be an added advantage. Valid driver’s license.

DUTIES :

• Monthly funds requisition from National Treasury. Compile the monthly bank reconciliation.
• Control the Paymaster- General accounts, which includes PMG exceptions, BAS credit transfer account and bank adjustment account. Co-ordinate and compile the compliance certificate.
• Maintenance of departmental debt procedures with regard to cash and cash equivalent.
• Manage the office. Execute responsibilities of official as stipulated in Section 45 of the PFMA. Management of resources.
