Structural Draughtsperson at SMEC

OVERVIEW

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and energized Structural Draughtsperson (Fixed-Term) to join a leading infrastructure consultancy and contribute to the growth and development of a business with a reputation for technical excellence and strong client relationships. The position will be a fixed term contract position of 6 months.

REPORTS TO
Section Manager or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time..

PRIMARY POSITION PURPOSE 

• Provide drafting services and prepare documentation for projects as well as provide other appropriate technical support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring projects are documented within guidelines set by supervisor
• Producing efficient, high quality drawings and documentation
• Ensuring tasks are completed to program
• Using office systems relevant to tasks
• Ensuring appropriate technical and drawing standards and quality procedures are maintained on all projects
• Taking ownership and responsibility for own work 
• Bill of quantities
• Training of more junior draughtsmen
• Preparing and producing Issue Slips using Doc Reg
• Communicating with clients, suppliers and other offices
• Assisting with quantity measurements
• Assisting Senior Draughtsmen and Engineers with research and innovation
• Consulting directly with Engineers
• Compiling bending schedules

• Working with project guidelines and standards
• Complete quality drawings and documents within a required timeframe

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

• National Diploma (Civil Engineering) or relevant draughting
• 3 - 5 years drafting experience (as Draughtsperson)
• Experience in the use of AutoCAD and other relevant drafting software 
• Understand the use and importance of standards in the application of software tools
