Student Development And Support (SDS) Practitioner at Tshwane University of Technology

• The Directorate of Student Development and Support (SDS) in Higher Education Development and Support (HEDS) has a one year fixed-term position for an SDS Practitioner at the Giyani campus.

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Applicants are required to submit together with the CVs, a standardized application form available from the university intranet as well as recently certified copies of qualifications and identity documents. Failure to comply with this instruction will disqualify the candidate. Further, note that candidates may be expected to make a presentation or undergo competency testing. • Programme management and administration of an SDS service area.
• Participate in the service delivery of:
• Personal counseling and therapy
• Teaching Life Skills
• Academic coaching and study skills
• Psychometric assessments and career counselling
• Workshops and awareness campaigns
• Other SDS activities
• Research

JOB SPECIFICATION/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Qualification

• A relevant master’s degree (NQF L9) in the field of Psychology/Educational Psychology.
• Professional registration
• Registration as a psychologist (counselling/educational) with the HPCSA.

Experience (minimum)

• Three (3) years of relevant experience in rendering psychological services to higher education students.

Knowledge

• Counselling portfolios related to psychological support focus areas: Professional knowledge of skills development and support functions: human behavior: counselling (individual, group), psycho-education
• Academic development and support
• Knowledge of project/programme management
• Knowledge of teaching, learning, and mentorship in Higher Education

• Ability to work with people individually and in teams in a partnership and leadership relationship.
• Ability to apply and facilitate and present effectively.
• Ability to counsel and mentor and provide guidance.
