Requirements

• Grade 12 or Equivalent Technical qualification with trade certificate (Plumbing).
• ND: Civil Engineering is advantageous.
• 3-5 years relevant supervisory experience in a civil engineering operational environment.
• Knowledge of reticulation networks and plumbing/construction processes as well as Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Valid Code EB/C1/EC/C/EC1 driver’s licence.

Successful candidate/s will be:

• Required to be physically fit and able bodied. Must be Able to lift heavy manhole covers, carry heavy equipment and fit into confined spaces.
• Required to work in all weather conditions.
• Required to work standby, outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime.

Key Performance Areas

• Operational implementation of effective water and sewer services within Reticulations.
• Maintain assets, operate water and sewer reticulation, coordinate minor construction work.
• Supervise and monitor the allocation of work to subordinates.
• Arrange for contractors to undertake emergency maintenance and replacement work.
• Undertake accident investigations, District Manager Reports and prepare public liability claims.
• Implement Occupational Health and Safety processes.
• Input into the compilation, control and implementation of capital and operating budgets of the Depot.
• Performing specific administrative functions for the section.
• Strong leadership ability to drive a high-performance culture.
• Apply the disciplinary policy whilst interfacing with trade unions.
• Liaise with Community leaders and engage with other Stakeholders on water and sanitation in informal settlements and formal areas.
