Superintendent Metallurgy at Sibanye-Stillwater

Minimum Required Qualification:

• A relevant tertiary qualification from an accredited institution, (NQF 7) in the field of Extraction Metallurgy or Chemical engineering.

The Appointee should:

• A relevant tertiary qualification from an accredited institution, (NQF 7) in the field of Extraction Metallurgy or Chemical engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Supervisor Metallurgy and / or Metallurgist
• Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
• Clear security screening record.
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
• Chamber of Mines Advanced Evaluation Certificate or Blasting Certificate with a minimum, PLUS Chamber of Mines Elementary Evaluation Certificate
• At least 5 years’ experience in a related experience in an underground environment (with COM Advanced Evaluation Certificate) or 2 years’ experience as a Supervisor Mining with a COM Elementary Evaluation Certificate.
• Medically fit to work in an underground environment.
• Clear security screening record.
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable).

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations Ensure timeous availability of resources to enable direct task execution. Improvement of the metallurgical accounting standards to be aligned with the Amira code for Metallurgical accounting as applicable to the operations. Keep abreast of latest developments, innovations and technologies and ensure continuous improvement Effect of cost and budget deviations is managed Provided systems, practices, methods, and procedures are implemented, maintained, and continuously improved Domain production / service is planned (Quality and quantity outputs through the utilization of domain resources are supervised) Improve decision-making at the next upper level, raw data is provided Utilize specialist knowledge and experience to solve problems in domain Process design specifications for new process facilities are compiled Domain workflow ensuring output achieved is supervised Investigations and problem solving on operating plants/for clients are performed Commissioning of new projects / processing facilities are performed Within constraints of level III provisions, domain resources are provided and coordinated Set objectives with regards to metallurgical, costs, health & safety and labour requirements (The “who, what, where, when, how and why” for at least longer than 3 months ahead is planned) Identify deviations through trend analysis timeously Provide assistance in making provision for unit requirements in overall budget inputs.
• Stakeholder Relations Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally. Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders. Sourcing, contracting and negotiating with service providers. Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable. Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
• Financial Management Managing the finances of the Division to achieve Organisational objectives. Working Cost Budgets: Setting and approving budgeting parameters for the Division in line with business requirements and financial objectives. Approving operational expenditure. Formulating monthly and annual budgets. Cost Savings: Leading and driving cost saving and cash conservation initiatives. Remaining competitive on the global cost curve for surface operations. Building a values-based organisational culture Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment. ESG Compliance Align to international responsible mining principles.
