The Superintendent Security Operations is accountable for leading the South Deep Protection Services operations function to ensure optimal people, product and asset protection standards are maintained. The incumbent’s primary duties cover the full spectrum of operational overt and covert surveillance, operational systems and intelligence gathering, access and logistics management and product movement
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 or equivalent
National Diploma/B-Tech or relevant Security Management/Law Enforcement tertiary qualification
Registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA)
At least 10 years’ Protection Services experience in a mining environment, of which 5 years should be at a Junior management level
Proven track record in managing or leading security and asset protection operational activities including electronic and manual operational surveillance, investigating internal and external operational threats and breaches within the precious metals, non-ferrous metals and property related industries
Extensive security systems and technical investigative experience
Demonstrate ability to lead multi-disciplinary and diverse internal and external security and support teams and experts
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

Duties and Responsibilities:
Promote a culture of authentic safety leadership by participating in and leading operational Safety, Health, Environment and Risk management campaigns, audits, incident management and investigations
Participate in and lead initiatives to promote a respectful, diverse, and inclusive workplace culture, while driving the company's strategic people initiatives
Participate in and lead team performance enhancing coaching, team resourcing, capability development, succession and talent management initiatives
Lead daily operational performance engagement with teams, facilitate root cause analysis, develop remediation plans, and analyse operational delivery trends
Participate in, lead and maintain assigned Protection Services operational risk assessment and mitigation action plans to ensure the development of proactive and optimal protection services interventions and controls
Conduct regular interrogation and analysis of protection services intelligence reports to assess operational threats and adequacy of protection services controls ensuring the appropriate development of remediation measures and escalation
Continuously assess and monitor the effectiveness of security operational controls and develop tactical plans and interventions to improve operational surveillance, access and logistics management, asset and product protection and, operational threat management
Initiate and participate in operational overt, covert and special project investigations ensuring the appropriate resourcing and deployment of investigative teams (internal and external teams, forensic experts, co-sourced investigative resources, etc.) while maintaining effective investigative work according to established case management principles
Remain abreast of evolving and specialised operational surveillance and monitoring methodologies, technologies and advances to optimise effective and ethical operational surveillance and asset protection controls and represent the Company at relevant industry forums
Oversee and refine operational administrative functioning, governance, reporting and budgets
Develop, recommend and maintain operational policies, procedures, and systems to create consistency within the function and monitors adherence and compliance at local Operations through regular audits to ensure level of compliance
Manage stakeholder relationships with key internal, Business Partner and external stakeholders by ensuring broad accountability is maintained against operational delivery, service level, commercial, community and ethical standards
