    Supply Planning Manager

    What’s the role?

    • The Supply Planning Manager is a pivotal role in the LSC organization and wider Lubricants business. The role is a key cross-functional interface between LSC (Planning, JV Plant Operations & Logistics), Finance, C&P, Sales & Marketing and Customer Operations in the short – medium term horizon.

    Accountabilities:

    • Determine, set, execute and review the supply chain planning organizational priorities and goals in line with integrated Lubricants Business priorities and ensure that the strategic and operational supply chain requirements are met.
    • Drive seamless integration between the supply function and other supporting functions and processes to champions end-to-end integration to maximize value for the Lubricants business
    • Diagnose systemic supply chain issues, define root causes and put in place strategic measures to enhance the reliability, efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain
    • Lead and motivate the supply chain planning team in line with set organizational priorities to ensure that the right products are available at the right location in the right quantities to fulfil customer demand On Time In Full, and unlock desired customer satisfaction, at optimal cost.
    • Creatively solve significant, complex, non-routine problems in the area of supply chain management and adapt these to the organization’s strategic plan.
    • Drive the LSC to become a source of competitive advantage for the lubricants business, and source of sustained customer satisfaction, benchmarked example in sustainability performance.

    Planning Short-Term:


    Generate significant improvements to tactical plans, practices, and procedures in supply chain management through robust analysis:

    • Employs models and simulation on a practical level to manage trade-offs; relating the model output to physical reality, alternative sources of supply, various market options and interpreting the financial and operational consequences
    • Manage supply planning processes to ensure demand requirements are met On Time In Full
    • Manage any emerging supply constraints and develop mitigations, including the communications interface with sales & marketing and customer operations teams.
    • Manage stocks levels to meet inventory target in line with working capital targets and identify continuous improvement of supply chain planning optimization to positively impact inventory holding

    Planning Medium to Long Term (and Optimization):

    • Adopt and evaluates effective customer service standards and sets longer term strategies for improvements in supply chain planning and optimization including sourcing models, to build capacity to meet customer requirements.
    • Design and implement initiatives that provides strategic competitive advantages to the integrated lubricants business.
    • Utilize supply chain management process (e.g. Sales & Operation Process), supply chain benchmarking data and tools to align the organization and provide fit for purpose solutions to deliver on commitments while ensuring greatest value for the Enterprise.
    • Diagnose and resolve significant, unusual problems which stem from underlying supply chain inefficiencies, forecast inaccuracies to optimize the supply chain performance.
    • Establishes/operationalizes systems to define and cascade targets and measures of supply chain activities to the required operational level (e.g., waste, quality, or reliability service levels).
    • Apply E2E business mindset in analyzing potential value gaps in the business processes and establish possible ‘money left on the table’ in the supply chain. Establishes processes and actions to close the gap, and optimizes the supply chain KPIs, removes constraints, aligns key customer and internal/external interfaces.
    • Reviews investment options and capacity sharing deals with JV partner for optimization.  Applies sensitivity analysis to the various options, ranks them and obtains the required approvals from the stakeholders.
    • Lead the planning team in S&OP process (Step1-4) to achieve supply and demand balance, where needed and appropriate resolve anticipated challenges with cost effective and practical mitigations. including full implementation of annual PLM activities and new customers wins/losses.
    • When required, implement and performance manage any toll blending agreements and achieve optimization between local production vs imports for all Finished products. 
    • Champion and lead the incorporation of appropriate practices and tools on Inventory and Capacity Management. Optimizes inventory levels across the Supply Chain while improving customer service without increasing cost of goods.
    • Adopt guidelines, policies and procedures appropriate to Supply Chain Planning within integrated lubricants business context.

    Contract Management:

    • Manage raw materials supplier contract to maximize value delivery – high service level at lowest optimal costs, zero major quality incidents, fully compliant QMS.
    • Able to diagnose and resolve significant contractual disputes and problems dialogue, negotiations, litigations, arbitrations, mediations
    • Actively generates and seeks internal and external best practice, including from other markets or countries and incorporating these in the contracting process to create substantial improvements
    • Manages application of industry or Shell recognized QA and QC principles throughout the supply chain partners.
    • Defines, ensure implementation and reviews the performance and effectiveness of the Quality Management systems with supply chain partners.

    Supply Chain strategy

    • Leads in complex and non-standard situations adjusting response and approach to maximize both short term and long term value creation.
    • Be able to diagnose and resolve significant, complex and unusual supply chain problems and to successfully adapt business plans.
    • Generate substantial improvements practices and procedure and influence decisions around the supply chain strategy.
    • Provide subject matter expertise and guide the design of the organization’s supply chain architecture in line with the organization’s business model and strategic objectives.

    JV Plant management and Capacity Review:

    • Continuously review JV plant capacity 'bottle necks' and the support JV plant with project implementation that could increase or decrease capacity if required.
    • Observes, track and respond to future peaks and troughs in capacity load, review agreed operating plan over the planning horizon - incorporating planned shut downs (e.g. maintenance) and available working time.
    • Interprets S&OP output vs. actual volume figures for JV plants through S&OP step3 and identifies and translate available spare capacity at filling / blending line level into competitive advantages, mitigate any shortages where appropriate.

    Key Experiences and Qualifications:

    • Minimum 10-years supply chain management and operational planning experience in Oil and Gas is preferred however FMCG, Automotive, Mining and Pharmaceutical will also suffice, with at least 3years supervisory / team leadership experience
    • Must have a minimum bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Industrial Engineering or alike
    • Certified Supply Chain professional and/or any other Supply Chain Management certification is preferred and advantageous.
    • Skills in the following: Value chain management and e2e profitability, Supply chain strategic planning and implementation and Supply chain contract management and negotiation.
    • Mastery in the following:   Supply chain analysis and tactical planning, Supply chain integration and Optimization, Commercial and economic acumen, Champions Customer and Stakeholder Focus and Maximizes Business Opportunities.
