Key Responsibility Areas
SURVEY TECHNICIAN 36004560
- Conduct field inspections for survey projects.
- Measure height difference between points to the required accuracies.
- Survey property beacons such as buildings, walls, fences etc.
- Download on site observations into computer software.
- Liaise and provide advice to the public, community leaders, contractors and other staff.
- Undertake calculations and preparation of plans.

- Act as a Team Leader on large survey projects.
- Reconnaissance and planning of survey projects.
- Establishing survey control.
- Undertake levelling, Semi precise levelling and precise levelling.
- Select suitable positions in the field and construction suitable to the site or identify suitable existing marks.
- Obtain heights of the required road, structure or land together with the horizontal positions.
- Locate beacons defining property locations under the supervision of the Land Surveyor.
- Undertake all calculations of plans and records for tasks.
- Erect road, public place closure and expropriation notices
- Supervises junior staff.
- Liaises and advises the public, community leaders, contractors and other technical staff.

- Serve on the panel for testing and interviewing Land Surveying Assistants and Survey Technicians.

- Diploma (NQF level 6) in the surveying or geomatics field or equivalent.
- Valid motor vehicle driving license.
