Job Description

• IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to   develop this “mine of the future”.

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 12
• Diploma in Mine Surveying or equivalent.
• Advanced skills in the use of mine survey software
• Have report writing and articulation of work skills
• Statutory survey requirements
• Survey relevant legislation
• Highly computer literate

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

• 5 years’ mine surveying experience, with experience in mine survey roles in underground mine surveying
• At least 2 years’ experience on a fully mechanised underground operation.

 The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Capturing and compiling data in accordance with the required standards and facilitating the drafting of Mine Plans.
• Completing End of Month Surveys on site and assisting with the reporting requirements
• Maintaining the site survey equipment in good working order and regularly updating software and firmware
• Maintaining a high standard data control system
• Providing field support for exploration, and other project-type activities
• Participates in “safety talk” sessions as assigned at the beginning of each working day
• Adheres to the company HSE rules and procedures throughout the working day, and undertakes necessary maintenance remedial action in accordance with laid down company rules
• Reports any HSE incidents to relevant authorities immediately, and provides evidence of incidents witnessed, during investigations
• Carries out housekeeping in area of responsibility to ensure a safe and secure work environment
• Implements action items arising from HSE audits by taking corrective actions on identified deviations
• Enforcement of Company Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure safe working environment
