Team Lead – Mechanical Engineering - Secunda at Proconics

Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting in the scoping of new projects, mechanical design, compiling technical specifications for procurement of tagged equipment and support the implementation of designs independently in a multidisciplinary team to execute the Mechanical engineering & design deliverables during various design stages of projects.
The candidate will need to develop team members, provide guidance, and set the example. Generate and review technical work accurately and drive internal processes to meet the client needs/deadlines.  

Requirements

• Responsible for managing for results through a team  
• Development of detail design deliverables effectively and efficiently within the engineering budget, on time and to sufficient quality
• Liaise with client to gain insight into problem statements/scope definition of design requirements
• Attend weekly or monthly progress meetings internal and external
• Planning and prioritising design efforts to ensure the effective delivery of projects
• Supervise, guide and lead the detail design mechanical engineering team and continuously update the philosophy of generating quality engineering deliverables as per client and business requirements.

Qualifications/Experience
Qualifications/Experience:

• B. Eng/BSc (Eng) in mechanical engineering
• Registration as a professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa
• More than 8 years experience
• Driver’s License and own transport

Experience in one or more of the following fields will be advantageous

• Experience in leading an engineering team in a detailed design function
• Exposure to considerations in construction work related to mechanical, structural and piping-related works
• Understanding of other engineering disciplines’ processes and how to integrate with other disciplines interfaces
• Affinity for and experience in business management of a sub-group in a professional services company
