    Technical Advisor (Monogastric)

    Job Description    

    • RCL FOODS is seeking a skilled Monogastric Technical Advisor to join our Animal Feed business unit. The role will report into the Sales Manager and will based at our Pretoria West Feed Mill. RCL FOODS is looking for a decisive, efficient and innovative individual with practical experience in the animal feed sales Industry.
    • The purpose of the role is to identify opportunities and engage with prospective customers to actively seek opportunities and GROW RCL FOODS Feeds market share, understand and interpret Monogastric performance criteria’s relative to the species and advise prospective customers and provide support to the Sales and Customer Manager – Gauteng, in the smooth running of customer accounts.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • BSc. Animal Nutrition
    • Agricultural Diploma/Degree or Marketing Diploma/Degree - Have to be supported by extensive experience in monogastric farming and nutrition)
    • Valid Code EB driver’s license
    • 5 to 10 years' experience in the farming and sales environment.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Relationships

    • Builds relationships with customers by providing customers with accurate information regarding orders, deliveries and any unforeseen circumstances and enable customer service excellence
    • Work with the respective Feed Mill to ensure alignment of production priorities and capacity investment to meet short, medium and long term sales forecasts.
    • Communicate to mills opportunities relating to quality, performance and customer service
    • Build Trust with customers through developing reliability, credibility and follow-up.

    Marketing

    • Work closely with customers to co-create and achieve their specie performance strategy and business objectives
    • Advise and influence customers on their farm strategy to maximize delivery on key targets by providing sound nutritional advice and service.
    • Support the customer base together with Technical Sales Advisors through advice, formulation and training.
    • Managing a geographic area with a diverse customer base to achieve sales targets, increased market share, and business objectives.
    • Understand customers operations as well as their requirements & trends
    • Assist with market planning of advertising for sales feed

    Marketing and brand building pricing strategy remains relevant and effective

    • Identify new market opportunities
    • Collect and communicate industry intelligence in a regional context, focused on monogastric farms and their suppliers and service providers (e.g. feed suppliers, their products and strategies).
    • Identify and communicate needs for new/altered products and services
    • Participate actively in organized monogastric structures & events (Auctions, Shows & Events)
    • Territory Planning & Priority Setting through data analysis, planning, utilization of resources and execution of business plans
    • Technical & Commercial Knowledge
    • Assist by travelling to other regions to deal specifically with monogastric clients as extended Technical team my require (creating a greater foot print of the brand in the market)

    Sales Support

    • Maintains and utilizes expert product knowledge and highly effective sales skills to influence targeted monogastric customers.
    • Focus on acquire new Monogastric business within 150km radius from Pretoria West Mill
    • Executes brand strategies to ensure a consistent company sales and marketing message.
    • Identify and communicate weaknesses and threats to RCL Feeds and their service supply to farmers.
    • Liaison with co-operative staff re training in RCL monogastric feed products knowledge, customer referrals, enquiries
    • Contribute technical articles/presentations on monogastric farming topics on a need’s basis.
    • Develop into a recognized expert (“go to” man/person) in related Monogastric feeding management areas
    • Play a leadership role in respect of Monogastric nutrition and feeding (within RCL Feeds and externally)
    • Responsible for relationship with re-sellers and agents
    • Plan and schedule customer appointments on a regular call cycle basis
    • Follow up with logistics and service delivery of orders to ensure brilliant customer service.
    • To assist the Sales and Customer Manager in the position by carrying out duties of client visits, event attendance and customer services.

    Pricing

    • Provide relevant information to Sales and Customer Manager on market realities and competitor pricing and promotions and influence pricing decisions to ensure our pricing strategy remains relevant and effective
    • Advise on seasonal pricing strategies to grow market and competitive advantage
