    Technical Advisor (Monogastric)

    Job Description    

    • RCL FOODS is seeking a skilled Monogastric Technical Advisor to join our Animal Feed business unit. The role will report into the Sales Manager and will based at our Pretoria West Feed Mill. RCL FOODS is looking for a decisive, efficient and innovative individual with practical experience in the animal feed sales Industry.
    • The purpose of the role is to identify opportunities and engage with prospective customers to actively seek opportunities and GROW RCL FOODS Feeds market share, understand and interpret Monogastric performance criteria’s relative to the species and advise prospective customers and provide support to the Sales and Customer Manager – Gauteng, in the smooth running of customer accounts.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • BSc. Animal Nutrition
    • Agricultural Diploma/Degree or Marketing Diploma/Degree - Have to be supported by extensive experience in monogastric farming and nutrition)
    • Valid Code EB driver’s license
    • 5 to 10 years' experience in the farming and sales environment.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Relationships

    • Builds relationships with customers by providing customers with accurate information regarding orders, deliveries and any unforeseen circumstances and enable customer service excellence
    • Work with the respective Feed Mill to ensure alignment of production priorities and capacity investment to meet short, medium and long term sales forecasts.
    • Communicate to mills opportunities relating to quality, performance and customer service
    • Build Trust with customers through developing reliability, credibility and follow-up.

    Marketing

    • Work closely with customers to co-create and achieve their specie performance strategy and business objectives
    • Advise and influence customers on their farm strategy to maximize delivery on key targets by providing sound nutritional advice and service.
    • Support the customer base together with Technical Sales Advisors through advice, formulation and training.
    • Managing a geographic area with a diverse customer base to achieve sales targets, increased market share, and business objectives.
    • Understand customers operations as well as their requirements & trends
    • Assist with market planning of advertising for sales feed

    Marketing and brand building pricing strategy remains relevant and effective

    • Identify new market opportunities
    • Collect and communicate industry intelligence in a regional context, focused on monogastric farms and their suppliers and service providers (e.g. feed suppliers, their products and strategies).
    • Identify and communicate needs for new/altered products and services
    • Participate actively in organized monogastric structures & events (Auctions, Shows & Events)
    • Territory Planning & Priority Setting through data analysis, planning, utilization of resources and execution of business plans
    • Technical & Commercial Knowledge
    • Assist by travelling to other regions to deal specifically with monogastric clients as extended Technical team my require (creating a greater foot print of the brand in the market)

    Sales Support

    • Maintains and utilizes expert product knowledge and highly effective sales skills to influence targeted monogastric customers.
    • Focus on acquire new Monogastric business within 150km radius from Pretoria West Mill
    • Executes brand strategies to ensure a consistent company sales and marketing message.
    • Identify and communicate weaknesses and threats to RCL Feeds and their service supply to farmers.
    • Liaison with co-operative staff re training in RCL monogastric feed products knowledge, customer referrals, enquiries
    • Contribute technical articles/presentations on monogastric farming topics on a need’s basis.
    • Develop into a recognized expert (“go to” man/person) in related Monogastric feeding management areas
    • Play a leadership role in respect of Monogastric nutrition and feeding (within RCL Feeds and externally)
    • Responsible for relationship with re-sellers and agents
    • Plan and schedule customer appointments on a regular call cycle basis
    • Follow up with logistics and service delivery of orders to ensure brilliant customer service.
    • To assist the Sales and Customer Manager in the position by carrying out duties of client visits, event attendance and customer services.

    Pricing

    • Provide relevant information to Sales and Customer Manager on market realities and competitor pricing and promotions and influence pricing decisions to ensure our pricing strategy remains relevant and effective

RCL FOODS is looking for a decisive, efficient and innovative individual with practical experience in the animal feed sales Industry.
    • The purpose of the role is to support the Sales Manager to grow and manage existing business as well as promote EPOL Feed in order to achieve profit targets, build customer relationships and provide technical advice to farmers and resellers/agents.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric
    • Degree/Diploma in Agriculture.
    • Valid Code EB driver’s license
    • Minimum of 3 years sales experience within an FMCG environment

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    1. Pricing and Profitability:

    • Gather regional competitor information on a continuous basis on pricing by product and category and by competitor.
    • Assist the Senior Customer Manager to set pricing in relation to competitors and the brand positioning in the market in order to maximise margins at all times.
    • Inform customers promptly on price changes by letter and in person.
    • Assist the Senior Customer Manager to recover standard cost movements, specifically increases, in order to maintain or grow margins.
    • Review sales progress versus budget with the Senior Customer Manager on a weekly and monthly basis and formulate and execute strategies and actions in order to close any gaps.
    • Formulate and maintain a hit list to target new potential customers and close the gap to budget.
    • Update the hit list weekly and submit to Senior Customer Manager.

    2. Customer Service:

    • Plan, schedule and attend regular appointments with customers on a call cycle basis set by the Senior Customer Manager and reviewed weekly.
    • Build excellent relationships with farmers and/or resellers through active engagement and demonstrated interest in their business and understanding of their needs.
    • Offer advise on Animal Management and Nutrition to customers by keeping abreast on the latest technology and developments.
    • Assist farmers to troubleshoot problems related to animal health or performance issues and identify whether they are feed-related or not.
    • Monitor and record feed performance by specie as agreed with the Senior Customer Service Manager.
    • Monitor feed quality and log any complaints immediately.
    • Follow up with the mill and revert to the customer with initial feedback within 48 hours.
    • Respond to feed delivery issues with urgency and engage and feedback regularly to the mill on such issues.
    • Log any and all complaints related to customer service and delivery regardless of whether the customer has complained or not.
    • Regularly monitor and review customer complaints with the mill team, a minimum of once a month.
    • Administer credit applications and resolve account issues timeously.

    3. Customer Marketing:

    • Promote Epol products (bulk/bag) through the various and most appropriate routes to market (direct, through resellers and agents).
    • Gather competitor information on marketing and product development and feed this information back to the Senior Customer Manager and the marketing team.
    • Roll-out and measure promotions by specie as agreed by Sales and Marketing.

    4. Administration

    • Compile weekly and monthly sales reports indicating tons sold versus budget as agreed with the Senior Customer Manager.
    • Complete customer complaint reports and forward them to the relevant persons to action.
    • Revert to customer with initial feedback within 48 hours.
    • Assist the Senior Customer Manager in budgeting and forecasting sales by product and customer.
    • Submit personal expense claims timeously to the Senior Customer Manager for approval, including travel, accommodation and cellphone expense.

    5. KPI’s

    • Turn-around time to answer customers’ requests.
    • Calls per day.
    • Call focus on strategic customers.
    • Sales volumes per customer per quarter.

    • An exciting opportunity exists for a Junior Data Analyst to join our Logistics Division at our Cape Peninsula site.
    • The successful incumbent will be responsible for assisting and providing support in the ongoing advancement of a suite of business reporting that will provide insight, stimulate further discussion and assist in decision making. We are looking for someone who has a passion for systems and working with large data sets; a team player who wants to be part of fast paced and results driven team.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • B.Com Degree and/or a ND in Sales Management
    • 3-5 years sales systems / analysis experience
    • Experience in BI reporting platforms will be advantageous
    • Programming skills in Python, R or similar language will be advantageous
    • Experience in Retail Portal systems will be advantageous

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    1. Sales and Returns Performance Reporting

    • Ensure data is accurately and regularly captured onto the relevant information systems to facilitate access to reliable data and reporting for trend analysis and decision making
    • Manage the daily and weekly update of the sales system
    • Manage the re-run process regularly to ensure that the system is up to date
    • Run and distribute sales performance information cubes
    • Update and distribute daily/ weekly sales tracker reports
    • Create, analyse and distribute monthly returns reports to Principals and internal recipients
    • Share with and report relevant data and information to Management teams to enable reliable business decision-making

    2. Principal Back-End Budgeting

    • Calculate and maintain Principal targets by Principal/ Region/ Store/ SKU
