Technical Buyer Specialist - Refibre at Sappi

We’re on the lookout for an experienced Technical Buyer Specialist: Refibre to support Senior Procurement Manager – Refibre with the planning, execution, and control of the procurement process to meet customer expectations and company goals. Liaising with internal customers, management, and suppliers to ensure smooth operational delivery.

This role reports into the Senior Procurement Manager: Sourcing (Refibre)

As a Technical Buyer Specialist you will be responsible for:

• Provide specialist quality assurance and quality control of brown recovered paper supplied to Sappi operations and manage Refibre assets deployed at Refibre suppliers to best operating practises and standards.
• Negotiate optimum commercial agreements for short (one year) and medium term (three year) contracts.
• Oversee document control and maintenance of Refibre equipment deployed at Refibre suppliers as well as risk and safety management of all Refibre equipment deployed at Refibre suppliers.
• Develop existing and identify new suppliers to effectively reduce the total cost of ownership associated with the procurement of products and services.
• Monitor and track supplier performance against service level agreements including quality control where required.
• Manage wastepaper quality supplied to specific mills e.g., quality, baling wire, loading methods.
• Prepare capex documentation for new planned projects in-line with Refibre 5-year capex plan.
• Train ESD suppliers on brown recovered paper quality requirement as well as operations of Refibre baling equipment.
• Promote and help achieve Sappi’s BBBEE preferential procurement and enterprise development objectives and targets.

What are we looking for?

• Relevant Degree or Diploma/ NQF Level 6-7 or Trade Test.
• A minimum of 5 – 8 years’ experience in technical, industrial, procurement or materials management environment.
• Experience in the technical and/or manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
• SAP MM experience would be advantageous.
