Technical Document Writer 

Develop comprehensive and detailed technical documentation (Technical Design Specifications, Interface Specifications) in accordance with best practice methodologies and strategic organisational initiatives in conjunction with Solution Architects, Technical Architects and Developers.

Responsibilities:

The incumbent’s job description includes but is not limited to the following:

• Evaluate and understand organisational technology drivers, standards and strategic initiatives
• Evaluate and understand technology project solution specific requirements as defined by a Solution Architect, Technical Architect or similar
• Understand emerging technology trends and best practice
• Understand Enterprise Architecture technology drivers
• Translate solution requirements into detailed, clearly defined technical specifications
• Generate detailed Function/Technical Specifications (FTS) for use by developers utilising, but not limited to, tools such as Enterprise Architect
• Effective database design capabilities and the use of tools in this space to generate complete database schemas (ERD) as an integral part of the FTS
• Comprehensive understanding of and experience with using UML as a basis for modelling of analysis, design and implementation requirements

• Maintain up-to-date, clearly versioned, technical documentation and associated document register within defined document repositories aligned to specific software releases/versions
• Evaluate and determine solution and architecture deficiencies to collaborate with Solution and Technical Architects and make recommendations to ensure continuous improvement
• Generate comprehensive Interface Specifications in conjunction with Technical Architect/Developer for use by external systems/services as may be required
• Ensure compliance with the entire SDLC – design, documentation (ensuring document versioning and submission to repository), build, testing and handover to operations/support

Qualifications

• 5 years minimum proven industry related experience
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Technical Document Writer a in Telecommunications Software Development and Support environment would be a definite advantage.
• Bachelors Degree or Diploma
