Technical Lead at Silica

Job Summary:

• Write well designed, testable, efficient code (80% of your time)
• 20% of your time will be spent on mentoring developers, and driving the implementation of technical debt
• Assist in translating requirements from product owner and analysts into technical deliverables for the development team
• Preparing and pitching of fundamental changes, to the Architecture board
• Act as a mentor for the developers within the team
• Ensure all the developers understand the big picture of the work they do and the technical implications thereof
• Communicate technical issues/decisions effectively to the management team and product owner
•  Has strong technical skills and often develops the architecturally significant components of the software system and/or interfaces
• Create/Manage architecture diagrams/plans
• Provide technical advice with regards to the move to the cloud of the application
• Design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, delivering high-availability and performance.
• Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle (Design, Development, Testing support, Deployment, Production Support)
•  Responsible for optimizing developer processes in the team (deployment pipelines, unit testing, DB replication, code review, automated testing etc.)
• Drive continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies, presenting these for architectural review, and ensuring the team is aligned with the latest technology availableProvide first-hand analysis and Investigation for production environment concerns

Educational and Work Experience Requirements

• Bachelor Degree, preferred in Computer Science or Information Systems qualification advantageous
• Relevant IT qualifications advantageous
• Knowledge of / experience within the financial services industry (preferably investment banking) advantageous
• Recent working experience delivering projects using agile/scrum and DevOps principles
• 3+ years of working in a technical leadership role and/or as a senior developer
• Exposure working on one or many major public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google)

Technical / Special Requirements

• Front-end development with a modern JS framework (AngularJS, React), HTML, CSS, Bootstrap
• You’re in your element developing RESTful APIs in either C#, .NET Core or NodeJS
• Backend: C#, NodeJS, .NET Core
• Databases: MongoDB, Microsoft SQL 2016, Oracle
• Dev Tools: VS Code, Visual Studio 2017, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, SonarQube, MS Teams
• Other: Redis, Google Analytics, Git
• Automation of the build pipeline with Azure DevOps
• Implementation of Kubernetes and Docker
• Technical knowledge of at least one of the main cloud providers (Azure/AWS)
