    Technical Project Manager: G-DCM

    KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Reporting to the Senior Manager IT Projects, with support functions to CEO, CTO and other departments of Toyota Connected Africa (TCA), the incumbent will be responsible for the delivery of technology advancements projects, where we focus on the “Connected Car” and cutting-edge enhancements in enterprise software solutions. They will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (throughout the entire TCA and Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) businesses) and the dealer network.  The candidate must possess very strong technology, delivery and relationship-building skills. This position forms part of the Toyota Connected Africa technical team and is based in Johannesburg.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Support the management of activities relating to software development teams.
    • Ensure that the correct support is available for the gathering of user requirements for project delivery.
    • Sets attainable goals for project delivery and ensure that these goals are communicated to the stakeholder community. Similarly, the progress towards completion of project activities should be tracked and reported on the same community.
    • Provide guidance to team members to encourage work productivity.
    • Ensure that the project timeline is followed by the software development team and assist with issue and risk mitigation activities that threaten the development progress.
    • Manage multiple projects at once.
    • Represents the company and project in software department, executive and stakeholder meetings, and assume responsibility for reporting on progress and project statuses in appropriate meetings.
    • Ensure that the appropriate procedures, methodology and processes are followed when it comes to software development
    • Ensure that the documentation of design plans (Architectural and UX) is performed.
    • Ensure that the software requirements are appropriately documented, stored, tracked and measured.
    • Ensure that the appropriate testing approach and methodology is implemented, documented and tracked.
    • Monitor and report on the status of the software development progress in line with the methodology implemented and stakeholder requirements.
    • Participate in other areas of the software development lifecycle as the project demands.
    • Provide key project support to the TSAM Future Toyota department relating to the G-DCM project (Connected service).
    • Build relationships and establish strong communication channels with both local partners and Toyota Connected companies relating to the G-DCM project and other MaaS project.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • A bachelor’s degree in information technology and/or a qualification in the Project Management field (Agile or SDLC) would be highly advantageous.
    • 5+ years of experience in the delivery of scalable enterprise software within the IT space.
    • 2+ years of managing teams within a development organization
    • Exposure and practical experience with:
    • Project management
    • Data Management and Data Analysis
    • User Interfaces
    • Integration Methodologies and Frameworks
    • Exposure to delivering IT projects with programming languages such as
    • JavaScript
    • HTML
    • SQL
    • .NET
    • PHP
    • ASP

    COMPETENCIES:

    When it comes to the Technical Project Manager, the following competencies are essential.

    • A clear understanding of Project Management processes, strategies and methods, both within the traditional Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile approaches.
    • A sense of personal accountability when it comes to both decision-making and supervising delivery teams.
    • The ability to be able to predict challenges and obstacles, and surface them to the correct channels for resolution.
    • Strong experience when it comes to both analytical thinking and problem-solving.
    • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
    • Experience in managing delivery teams that have exposed you to:
    • Software Development languages (web/app etc.),
    • Database systems and tightly coupled, secure integrations,
    • Complex applications deployed at an Enterprise level,
    • System Integrations,
    • Project Management Tools (Azure Dev Ops, JIRA etc.),
    • Multi-national and cross-border delivery teams that are not co-located,
    • Excellent Analytical and Technical skills that are focused on a Quality and Delivery mindset.
