Technician Control & Instrumentation - South32, Mamatwan Mine at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

• The purpose of this role is to safely execute maintenance work according to prescribed standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a N6 Technical Certificate with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in maintenance;
• Knowledge about PLC’s and SCADA, ethernet and profibus networks will be to your advantage;
• Valid Code B driver’s license is essential;
• N5 Technical Certificate in Logistic Systems will be advantageous.
   

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Ensure optimal asset life through application of good maintenance practices;
• Execute all maintenance work in a safe manner;
• Identify and report stoppages or work requirements;
• Perform lockouts and make the work area safe;
• Test and commission equipment prior to handover;
• Route Completed Work Orders to the Supervisor;
• PLC programming and commissioning of new installations/projects;
• Fault finding/localising on the plants by using the PLC;
• SCADA configuration for new equipment and upgrades as required;
• Attend to breakdowns effectively minimizing down time;
• Building/Installation of new PLC networks (Profibus DP) to provide IO for automation of existing and new equipment;
• Keep all PLC and Adroit records and drawings updated;
• You will be required to work overtime and perform standby duties;
• You must be able to use own transport from time to time with compensation;
• You must be able to work shifts.
