Technologist - Electrical at AECOM

Job Description

• We are looking to fill the position of a Electrical Technologist to join our electrical engineering unit, forming part of a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering team. The company undertakes large capital projects for various clients, across many sectors.
• The Technologist conducts assignments in the electrical engineering field usually as part of a project team.

Technical Excellence:

•  Conducts assignments in the electrical engineering field
• Plans, organises and manages small/medium projects
• Makes recommendations on alternate solutions to engineering problems
• Prepares and presents technical plans and reports
• Institutes changes in methods, designs or equipment
• Under Supervision, performs work following the agreed-upon budget and schedule.
• When required, collects and analyses information from specific discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models.
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering problems.Coordinates with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process.
• Participates in design progress and coordination meetings.
• Checks and ensures the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to  - design instructions.
• Actively seeks information, opportunities to participate and contribute, and develops efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Contributes by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments.
• Assists with the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure high-quality outputs under project timelines.
• Proficient in BIM Software Revit

Detailed Electrical Engineering of LV and MV systems including the development and checking of:

• Load Lists
• Single Line Diagrams
• Network Diagrams
• Electrical Schematic Diagrams
• Hazardous Area Classification
• Diversification and Load factors.
• Electrical Network Design
• Fault Level Calculations
• Protection Schemes modelling of protection schemes and definition of Protection settings.
• Power Metering specification and interface to Energy / Building Management Systems.
• Cable Routing Design
• Cable Sizing Calculations
• Lighting Calculations, modelling and layouts.
• Earthing Risk Assessments, earthing system design, Earthing layouts.
• Specification of Electrical Equipment including, Switchgear, Distribution Boards, Motor Control Centres, Transformers, , UPS’s, Cables, Lighting, etc.
• Specification of Construction Standards of installation.

Qualifications

• 4+ Years' experience after obtainment of qualification within the built environment in a similar function 
• BTech Degree from an accredited university
• Registered as a Candidate Technologist  ECSA
