Test Automation Engineer at Capitec Bank

What You'll Be Doing
As a Test Automation Engineer II, you’ll enable and enhance software quality by combining robust automation practices with sound testing fundamentals, including some manual testing where needed. Your focus will include:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks
• Testing across front‑end, back‑end, and APIs, with a strong emphasis on automation
• Contributing to integration and regression testing, especially as new products and features are introduced
• Working with Playwright and JavaScript as core automation technologies
• Collaborating with the team to continuously improve testing approaches, environments, and pipelines
• Ensuring quality throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

What We're Looking For

• 3–5 years’ hands‑on experience in test automation
• Strong understanding of automation frameworks, test case design, and execution
• Experience with integration, regression, and API testing
• Working knowledge of CI/CD practices and version control (e.g. Git)
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Software Testing or similar

Strongly preferred:

• ISTQB Foundation Level (or equivalent testing certification)
• Experience using Playwright and JavaScript for automation
• Exposure to banking or credit environments, or complex transactional systems
• Experience working in Agile teams

Minimum Education

• Grade 12 National Certificate/Vocational
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Software Testing

Education (Ideal or Preferred)

• Software Testing - Foundation Level through the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB)
