Test Technician - Somerset West at Helderberg Personnel

The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures
• Collect all material and equipment needed to begin the process
• Take precision measurements to ensure perfect fit of components
• Maintain equipment in good condition
• Keep records of production quantities and time
• Report on issues, malfunction or defective parts
• Tests storage batteries, using electric testing instruments: Sets dials on testing instruments according to battery voltage.
• Places positive and negative wired plugs on posts and intercell-connector terminals of corresponding polarity and observes indicator on instrument that measures capacity in terms of pass or reject.
• Tests rejected batteries to determine specific defects, using voltmeter.
• Conducting system tests using near-final hardware and firmware.

Skills and Abilities required: 

• Possess experience with electrical and mechanical lab measurement equipment (measurement gauges, volt and impedance meters, as well as automated test equipment, etc).
• Must be able to work in a repetitive environment
• Ability to follow documented procedures and give feedback on existing or missing procedures
• Good communication skills in order to report issue clearly and effectively
• Experience with battery cycle life testing using inverters and firmware as well as data logs.
• Experienced in handling of Lithium-ion batteries is preferred but not essential
• Experience in wiring and soldering is desirable but not essential
• Safety training in previous jobs preferred
• Experience working with torque wrenches and multi meters

Requirements include: 

• National certificate or matric qualification 
• 3-5 Years relevant experience
• Solid understanding of a battery testing process
• Experience in electrical testing of devices and batteries
• Knowledge in General electronics, Lithium cells and Mechanical
