DESCRIPTION  

Purpose Of The Job

• To safely operate the Pelletising and Sintering Plant      

Safety, health, environment & Risk:

• Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)

Customers:

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction

Work execution:      

Pelletising and Sintering

• Oversee the pelletising and sintering operation in a metallurgical plant
• Monitor a metallurgical plant from a control room
• Control the water reticulation in a metallurgical process
• Control an ore storage and transport system
• Control the gas cleaning system to minimise pollution

Transferring:

• Transfer material by means of a belt conveyor
• Transfer fluids by means of a centrifugal pump
• Transfer fluids by means of a positive displacement pump
• Control the water reticulation in a metallurgical process

Separating/Filtering/Grinding:

• Separate material by means of a vibrating screen
• Separate material by means of a thickener
• Separate liquid from solids by means of a vacuum disc filter
• Remove air-borne dust by means of a scrubber
• Grind material by means of a ball mill

Material Handling:

• Handle nitric acid safely in a metallurgical plant

Analysing:

• Determine the total inorganic carbon content in solid samples
• Determine the moisture content in solid samples
• Determine the strength of green and sintered pellets
• Determine the particle size distribution of the mill discharge product
• Determine slurry grind size
• Determine the total dust content in a product sample
• Determine tumbler test values of pellets
• Determine the particle size distribution of the sintered pellets

Maintenance Work Execution:

• Lock out and obtain isolation permits
• Maintain screen decks at Product handling
• Maintain belt conveyor components

Reporting:

• Update the Pelletising and Sintering log sheets

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12/N3
• 2 years’ experience at the Pelletising and Sintering Plant
• Ability to work Shifts
